One of my favorite places for Vietnamese food - apart from their banh mi their usual dishes seem pretty authentic too!
I savoured every bite of the pork chop as it was very well-marinated. The ham was quite unique and it took me a while to get used to the taste. Overall the portion was generous and I enjoyed pairing all the sides with the traditional broken rice. Would come back for more!
Quite good Banh Mi, close to what I had in Ho Chi Minh. Coffee was great too! Made for a great breakfast, will be back for this again.
$6.50 for the Banh Mi, $2 for the coffee.
From the Saigon Food Sreet stall at the abovementioned food centre. A dish rarely found in Vietnamese eateries in Singapore (we are all too into Pho, Banh Mi and rice with grilled meats), it's indeed quite surprising to find this stall that sells quite a large variety of Vietnamese fare unfamiliar to the local palate (Viet Porridge with Bird Nest, Viet Pancakes, Viet Rice Roll with Pork etc.). This comes with just the pancake at $5.00; the vegetables on the sides are optional as an add on for $0.50. The stall owner told me to wrap the pancakes and cucumbers with the vegetables, and top then with the mint leaves and dip them into the spicy fish sauce to enjoy. Not sure if they have used turmeric for the egg pancake, but imagine a crusty, crisp egg pancake filled with sliced pork that might be seem bland at first, plump and fresh prawn and loads of crunchy bean sprouts soaking in the umami goodness of the fish sauce topped with a refreshing minty flavour. Wonder if there is anywhere else I could go to try this rarely found Vietnamese dish in Singapore ... ...
One of the best I've tried. Great presentation too!
Next Door Deli owns Baguette situated at the Chevron House, which assures the quality of their Vietnamese baguettes here. The salad in the baguettes were juicy, crunchy and refreshing; replicating an achar-like taste to it. Coupled with ham and the marinated chicken, it's a savoury combination. What makes it more worth the money must be the sides that goes along with it; a Viet Chicken Wing that has a light lemongrass flavour which is crisp and juicy, and the Pork on Sugarcane which was packed with vegetables and chestnut for a crunch.
Cucumber, carrot, lettuce, mint, peanut and fried shallots..nice and very filling greens
