“indo sumatera”, a road side kiosk serves up indonesian style kueh including this putu bambu or otherwise our familiar tutu kueh but in a tube from the hollow bamboo. best eaten while hot, the steaming white rice cake was so delicate, it almost melted instantaneously in my mouth with just the right amount of sweetness form the palm sugar. to complete the whole treat, freshly grated coconut topping was refreshing and offered much needed bite.

one of the more popular item here at the endearing decades old shima: poached salmon in secret soy-based broth. hint of tanginess but mostly pleasant sweet, almost a sin not to go with their garlic fried rice. classic teppanyaki fares executed safely i would say.
