Food!!
For those who couldn't take spiciness, this will be the laksa for you. Instead of the tongue numbing spiciness, there was a soothing and heart warming broth with their special chilli paste. .

The owner blended dried shrimps, shallot and chilli to create this aromatic combination. Love every mouthful!!

Maximum comfy food. Keeps pulling the crowd since I was a kid living in the neighborhood. The stall operator is still the same friendly uncle and his able wife. There is no stall signage (except one that state in Chinese they are closed on Wednesday). The flavours are still the same (much better than super famous scissors-cut curry rice). The curry + "lor"(卤汁) is the winning combination. Favorite item, for a large majority of it's customers, is their crispy pork-chop. Many may not know its marinated in fermented beancurd (腐乳) before breaded and fried. Just as Japanese are proud of their curry (some thinks curry was invented ), we should be too. Hainanese curry is really one of our heritage. You can't even find it in Hainan, China. Featured here is my favourite combo of pork-chop, pork patty and stewed cabbage. Do not be alarmed when you see a regular customer order so much items till it overflows. I remember when I was still a student, I would order crispy pork chop and cabbage and add extra otak from nearby street paddler (unlicensed, but shhh.... for goodness sake, I still can't find one that beat it) or other side dish because it's more economical.
People usually associate Simpang as a go-to supper place and mamak stalls. However, the place recently underwent a facelift and we were fortunate to savour some of the dishes before the grand reopening. At this new revamped space, all of the stalls were new and the vendors chosen served unique dishes that were not available in the vicinity. Traditional hawker food in a new dining experience.
Prices are at $2/$3 a plate. Most of the meat rice they sell here are affordable at $2. This Roasted Chicken Rice ($2) is fragrant and is filling for the amount that is given!
Describing it as being cooked aglio olio style doesn't quite do the "Scialatielli Di Gusto" dish justice. The sauce goes way beyond the typical olive oil and garlic you get at most places. So enticingly saturated with umami-ness from prawns and fragrant mushrooms, and a hint of heat from shy chilli slices, it was a non-stop slurp-up fest once I started on it. This dish features housemade Scialatielli pasta (it's like a thick "meepok"), five large de-shelled fresh prawns (save for the head and tail) and porcini mushrooms. I rolled out of there completely satisfied.

At @kinsasushi HillV2 Not exaggerating, this was one of the best beef bowl I had. The glistering slices were luxurious with their marbling, perfectly cut, tender and flavourful that would leave traces of happiness in your mouth and belly.

Especially spicy shiok-ness!
Mixed grilled of chicken, fish and pork drizzled with savoury sauce and a fried egg on top! Super shiok at $7.50? Cheap & good! Note to be taken, this only opens at 6pm!
The snaking queue at this famous dakgalbi restaurant from Korea is testament to its popularity. For the uninitiated, Galbi is basically meat marinated in a ganjang-based sauce that is grilled at the table. The star here is none other than Yoogane's Chicken Galbi - spicy marinated chicken cooked with rice cakes and vegetables. Also go for the Galbi Fried Rice, that gooey mozzarella cheese fried with rice and bulgogi chicken is oh-so-satisfying. Kimchi-lovers rejoice, the salad bar is free-flow!
Means a hundred years. Yong Tau Foo of a different kind at Albert Centre Market.
Only bee hoon. Only soup. Fixed ingredients, no choosing. Additional sauce at 30c.
BUT, it is good! Easily Top 5 in Singapore. Soup that has light soy bean savour (and I didn't feel thirsty after finishing), topped with handmade fish & pork, prawn pieces, bittergourd and beancurd skin rolls.
Fresh & appetizing. (I hope the queue doesn't get any longer. Queued for 15 min).
Never knew this shop existed till the bf brought me there. Can't believe I've been missing out all these years! The chicken is nicely fried, without being oily and has this slightly dry crispy exterior. Loved the chilli! Also love the spicy noodles with minced meat. The soup with meat balls and egg was a nice touch to it. ☺️
