Earl grey lavender is still my favourite but this Strawberry Milk Ice Cream was pretty decent. Light and not too sweet, came with a teeny cute meringue, macerated strawberries with orange zest and mint, and I found cornflakes at the end of it. Actually liked how refreshing the strawberry topping was.

This noodle dish has a slightly starchy soup made from seafood and clams. Cooked with the soft ramen-like noodles are skinny strips of pork belly, vegetables, prawns and clams. Available in $6, $9 and $12 portions, this is comfort food done well.

If you like your fried fish in generous large chunks, this is definitely THE place. Theirs are the largest I've come across in Singapore. For the $5.80 bowl, you get 5 pieces along with vegetables and beehoon (there's thick or thin types to choose from). Most people seem to opt for the milky, white soup but there's also a clear one available. Usually, I like to add bitter gourd ($2) in my order too. Do ask for a saucer of their sambal belachan chilli, as it goes really well with the fish.

"Teow Chew Meng" is a well-known eatery from Penang that has been covered extensively in press and online for their unique cooking. And "Mee Sua Tow" is one of the dishes everyone orders when they come by here. For the smallest serving of $8, you get a large bowl of "mee sua" cooked in a slightly starchy soup that has vegetarian "shark's fin", prawns, slices of garoupa fish, fish maw and mushrooms in it. I personally like the generous heap of coriander, spring onion and fried garlic bits as they help to enhance the flavours even more. This dish is a good representation of comfort food done well, which I know I will crave again for more. There are other items on the menu that I am keen to try as well, so it looks like I'll be coming back here very soon to 259 Tanjong Katong Road.

Very fresh in taste, lightly springy and so darn fragrant with loads of chopped garlic, spring onion and coriander. I highly recommend you order this if you like baby squid.
