Soft shell crab curry ($17) comes with crisp soft shell crab and a tangy curry with potato, cauliflower and onions. Use the thick and fluffy slice of toast to swipe up all the aromatic goodness! Also good are the pork chops ($19) that are well-marinated and paired with a super tasty sweet potato mash.

Enjoyed a great brunch at @wheelersyard with @burpple #burpplebeyond! The beef bowl and fried squid were definitely the highlights of the meal. The fried squid was coated with a sticky, sweet and savoury sauce while still retaining a crunchy exterior. The beef was tender and the runny onsen egg made for a great sauce.

Tender octopus garnished with crispy garlic and what I think are crispy beet root strips. The crunchy garlic and crispy beet root complimented the soft and tender octopus pieces. The mayo sauce was also really tasty, and really enhnced the flavour of the whole dish. Great appetiser!

The grilled almond cake from Common Man Coffee Roasters was unexpectedly amazing! The cake was soft and crumbly, but still moist and not dry at all. Wasn’t too sweet, and the almond flavour was quite subtle and not overpowering. Great way to end the meal!

I’m no coffee connoisseur but I can still appreciate a good cup of coffee! The iced Colombia has a citrusy, lime note with some hints of honey and caramel. Refreshing and great for a hot afternoon day.

The hae mee tng is chock-full of natural goodness and flavour from the prawns! The broth has no additional sauces or seasoning, and a lot of the flavour comes naturally from the prawns they use to cook the stock. Pricey, but yummy! They offer Japanese somen as an option, but having tried both I think I still prefer the traditional vermicelli

Finally got round to trying The Plain Jane at Serangoon! Their famous Swiss rolls ($5.90/$6.90) come in various interesting flavours and perfect for dessert or afternoon tea. The ispahan has a rose cream and lychee jelly in the middle, and was quite light and refreshing. The matcha was the right balance of bitter and sweet. Both had a really fluffy sponge, and wasn’t too heavy. Really nice place to chill and have a cup of coffee!

Was pleasantly surprised by the hash from Stamping Ground Coffee! The hash was slightly crushed (seems like from a waffle press), making it extra crispy and crunchy. The creamy dressing and tart salsa helped cut through the grease so you don’t feel jelat eating this. Yummy side to share!

The fried chicken sandwich from Park Bench Deli was so good! The sous vide chicken was super tender, but very crisp and crunchy on the outside as well. The chilli mayo was quite creamy, and provided a good level of spice. Simple, delicious, and a sizeable portion as well. Will definitely be back to try their other offerings!

The creamy mushrooms on sourdough is one of the must-try dishes from Atlas Coffeehouse. The sauce is creamy, but has a slight tang which helps cut through the richness. For something more substantial, add on scrambled eggs and Italian sausage. The eggs were silky smooth, although the sausage didn’t really add much. The add-ons bump up the price quite a bit but it still makes for an excellent brunch

The ‘Flaming Hokkaido Beef Bowl’ literally lives up to its name - the beef slices are torched live in front of you right before it is served. Portion isn’t that big, but the beef slices were tender. However, make sure to mix the bowl well, or you’ll end up with a mouthful full of mayo or alcohol like what happened to me.

Finally got to try this instagram-worthy cake that tastes as good as it looks! The cake was moist and spongy, while the salted egg glaze added just a touch of savouriness which really brought out the flavour of the whole cake. Would have preferred if the salted egg flavour was a little stronger, but really not a bad attempt at melding the two flavours together!
