Of Salted Egg Yolk Custards
Everytime and anytime I'm craving some liu sha bao, Mouth Restaurant is my place first (prolly only) pick. The crust is polo-bao-like, sweet and blistered with a good crunch; but the bomb is what it encases. That silky smooth, rich and luscious salted egg custard is THE best I've had. It has that that sandy texture, and nails the balance between salty and sweet. And it's never too oily. I first tried this 4 years ago, and till now I haven't had anything better. #FindComfortHere
Sweet, salty, crispy, best combination all in one. I've been to Mouth a couple of times before they moved to the new outlet at Chinatown, but this is my first time having this, really good👌🏻
Golden interstellar salted egg yolk sauce oozing out of the once familiar traditional 'Kong Bah Bao' with the companion of fresh crunchy prawns, giving it a twist of flavors to the traditional Bao. The taste of salted egg yolk is kind of subtle which fails to bring out the original glamor of a salted egg yolk. I would wish for a more intensified salted egg yolk sauce and maybe with some remnants in it!
This saliva-inducing dessert has become synonymous with this café and even after seeing it again and again everywhere on social media, it still never fails to tempt even the most regular of diners. The food here is decent, but the dish that really takes the cake (ha!) is the Golden Custard Lava Cake ($12). It’s simple, really. Think lush warm chocolate cake smothered from the inside with gooey, rich, salted egg yolk custard that bleeds out of its cake mould at the very first incision. So sinful, yet so comforting and satisfying.

We were told that the gourmet waffles were sold out when we arrived but thank you dear @sophiensyy for making this possible. 🙆 Waffles were good, the liu sha dip was even better 👍 And FatCat has probably the best pistachio gelato till date.
Such a clever use of salted egg in a dessert! These one-bite sugared donuts are fun and not too messy to eat, though the dunking sauce could have used a tad more salted egg to amp up the savoury factor.
One of the better 流沙包 i've had, what more their special yam flavored ones.
The flowing Liu Sha Bao. I am out to find the best of Singapore to write an entry, am already done with 9 places (of which will narrow to 5). Readers recommended this last one, I braved the crazy crowd of Vivocity to order these custard buns. They are right! The oozing is epic!
