A new cafe has opened in Limbang Shopping centre and I couldn't resist popping in to try their ice cream and gelato flavors. I tried the New York Cheesecake (depicted in the photo), Salted Caramel and the Lime sorbet. Out of the three flavors, I loved the lime flavor best. It was not too sour/acidic and it certainly does not make you scrunch your face in mock agony. What it certainly did was to bring a smile to my face because it was so refreshing and definitely a cool treat for the perpetual summer we have here in Singapore. And to top it off, they have a 20% discount for students, which was totally the icing on the cake (ice-cream) for me. I will be poppin' in again to try their waffles next time!

Went by the Takashimaya Food Hall again and caught the Tsujiri Honten booth selling Uji Roasted Tea Soft Serve. Much like the Matcha soft-serve, it is smooth and rich with intense bitter and roasty aroma, though this version comes without any drizzle unlike the Matcha variant. This would be the soft-serve that would strike Houjicha lovers and would also only be available till 29th September 2015.

Think this is a better option as their cone can be pretty soft.

Everton Creamery, the newest entry in the buzzy Everton Park neighbourhood, serves a variety of gelatos to help you beat the ever-present Singapore heat. The more popular flavours include Banana Walnut, Mango Pineapple and Nocciolone (Hazelnut), but we say go for their Matcha — which uses pumpkin seeds for a truly unique crunch factor — or their unbelievably nutty Pistachio.

We tried the strawberry and snickers ice cream, recommended by Elaine and Siewnah. Another unplanned and unexpected meeting with the foodies.

Today's waffle came with Oreo Milk and Salted Butterscotch. Waffle is crisp and buttery, while the Salted Butterscotch replicates Salted Caramel but has butterscotch crumbles for a bite. Oreo Milk was rich with Oreo cookies and cream flavour with a milky twist, but the small bits that had the cream cheese was a tad odd to me somehow.

Sorry but pretty only gets you so far. 😕

Newly opened in Bedok North Ave 2 is ice cream bar, Fatcat. Offering 18 ice cream flavours made from scratch daily, expect to find fresh and exciting flavours like passionfruit sorbet and butter beer, which can come served atop a salted egg charcoal waffle. Besides just dishing out scoops of ice cream, they serve a range of beautifully plated desserts and drinks. A must try is their incredibly refreshing lime mojito sphere, which bursts into an explosion of zesty flavour. For an ice cream bar, what is offered is truly unique, and Fatcat really does set itself apart from all other ice cream parlours out there.

You can't possibly have too much ice cream in the tropics. Recently opened DanmiSoft brings you milky smooth, organic soft serve ice cream from Korea, with a range of toppings and flavours that include manuka honey, affogato, caramel popcorn and the ever popular honeycomb ($3.90-$5.90). Want to bump up the healthy factor? Ask for an additional topping of Himalayan pink salt, available for all flavours!

It had been listed to be one the comfort food for the teenagers nowadays. But who would like to have a cold ice cream plated with a freshly "baked" waffle, especially on a hot day?? Their ice cream was very creamy and thick. It could only be achieve if the ice cream had less than 30% air. Thus more milk/cream was needed, higher food cost!
The waffle was crisp on the outside and fluffy in the inside. The instant the waffle hit the tongue, I could smell the strong aroma of egg + butter. If only, the waffle was bigger. 😬

One cup of all purpose flour + One cup of butter milk and one egg = my prefect waffle. Don't over mixed the batter and remember to let it rest. Add more butter milk if the batter is too thick.

Another froyo place is in town. Made from organic ingredients from Australia, the yogurt is smooth and creamy with a consistency similar to that of Llao Llao. The concept is similar to that of sogurt, where you choose the amount of yogurt you want along with toppings and sauce and the final price is determined by weight. Overall, quality is pretty good. However, Llao Llao still gives more bang for your buck, and a medium sized cup cost me around $12, which is way too costly imo.

Mei Heong Yuen, located right smack in Chinatown has localized their Snow Ice flavours. This dessert comes with attap seed, red bean, chin chow and jelly. You can also find flavours like Chocolate Banana and Watermelon Lychee there. The best thing about this dessert is that you are given a bottle of gula melaka syrup to douse your dessert with as much an amount as you want!
