I love that this tiny Thai Boat Noodles eatery, located at B1-08 of Golden Mile Complex, offers you choices for noodles, meats and soups. It's lots of fun to mix and match them to discover how each combination tastes. Based on my experience eating three completely different permutations, I can conclude they are all lip-smackingly delicious in spite of their mini size! 😋
To order, your first step is to select from silky-soft kway teow, beehoon or glass noodles (the kind used to fry "pad thai"). Next you take your pick of meats from fresh beef, braised beef (this is superb), beef liver, meatball, fresh pork, pork liver and pork ball. You can have a mix of up to three as long as they're from the same meat family. Last comes the soup of which they have three types: a Special Soup (made from beef and pork), Tom Yam and a clear one. If preferred, you can always opt to have your noodles "dry" instead. The waitress then checks if you want your noodles spicy or not. I recommend that you go for the former if you can handle chilli because theirs is really fragrant and potent.
In the corner of the shop sits a neat arrangement of raw beansprouts and a type of green Thai vegetable that you can help yourself to. What a cool way to add a refreshing crunch to the noodles.
Apart from the mini bowls, the noodles also come in bigger/normal portions that cost about $5 each. A small selection of other dishes such as stewed pork trotters and grilled meatballs are also listed in the menu.

This humble Thai stall in Tiong Bahru market is probably the most value-for-money, with huge portions at only $4 a plate. Owned and run by two friendly Thais, you'll be guaranteed authentic, hearty food. The Pad Thai is full of flavour and generous with the ingredients. Go for your favourites, they have a wide variety to choose from!

Serving huge portions, be sure to share your food here at Gold Food. With most dishes priced below $10, this value-for-money Thai restaurant is great for some mango salad, green curry and tom yam. Located conveniently in Sunshine Plaza, it's a great hidden gem for cheap, tasty Thai food in town.

Rochor Thai prides itself on not using MSG in any of their dishes and aims to serve authentic Thai food, so you may find some dishes that you haven't seen in other Thai restaurants (in Singapore). Get your appetite going with the Som Tum, a green papaya salad tossed in a zesty, spicy, savoury dressing and topped with peanuts to provide crunch. Don't miss the Salt Crusted Whole Tilapia - it doesn't look like much, but the salt crust packs in the moisture so you get soft, fresh fish that's perfectly cooked. The grilled pork collar is tender, flavourful, and goes exceedingly well with the accompanying Thai chilli dipping sauce. This is one place you can leave without feeling thirsty ;)

Having gained popularity, it is no surprise that it will take you almost 30 minutes to get to the front of the queue during peak hours. Getting a trusty Thai fix to satisfy your craving is a lot easier, now that Nakhon has 3 outlets. The Tom Yum soup (you can choose to have the clear or thick base) here is tangy yet subtly sweet, and will kick your butt with its spiciness. If you need a drink to quell the spiciness, their Thai Iced Tea will do the trick. Most dishes are reasonably priced, with meats ranging from $6-$8 and seafood dishes priced from $10 onwards. Order a plate of rice to go with your dishes so you can mop up all that saucy goodness.

Hidden in the dodgy Orchard Towers, Jane Thai Food dishes out quality Thai cuisine at affordable prices. Start off with Thai Fish Cakes. Dip these flat patties into Thai sweet chilli sauce; they pack a punch of flavour with strong hints of kaffir lime, red chilli and coriander. You might even find your new favourite Pad Thai here. It's tasty and loaded with beansprouts, egg, and your choice of pork, beef, chicken or seafood. Plus, they make the effort to serve your rice in the shape of a heart - pretty adorable.

Thai Noodle House is a great place to grab a quick bite if you find yourself in the Coronation neighbourhood. Located just opposite Coronation plaza, it's a family-run restaurant that serving Thai food that always hits the spot. You can't and won't go wrong ordering the classic beef noodle soup - rich & flavourful beef broth, tender sliced beef, beef balls, fresh bean sprouts and coriander, you might find yourself slurping it all up before you even realise. As the seating capacity is limited, you might want to go early, or on weekday nights where it's less crowded.

Step into Sawadee Thai Cuisine and you will see how much emphasis they place on aesthetics. For starters, get the Betel Leaf Wrap, a Thai street food. Wrap the condiments in a betel leaf, put it your mouth, and wait for the party to begin; the flavours and textures are pretty damn amazing. The Thai Style Otah, served on a traditional clay plate, can't be more pleasing to the eyes and palate. Served with a generous amount of chicken strips, fried dried shrimp, bits of lime, chilli and onions, the Olive Rice is one of the best you can find. If you like durians, be sure to end your meal with the Durian Glutinous Rice!

Soi Thai might be slightly out of the way, but if you're a sucker for Thai cuisine, you might want to travel. The dishes here provide refreshing options, apart from the usual basil minced pork. Do not miss the Beef Paneang, a dish of fork-tender beef cheeks doused in red curry sauce, which is one of their unique dishes. The minced meat omelette is a crowd pleaser as well, essentially a Thai-style Furong omelette - fluffy and packed with meat. Also go for the Thai Yellow Ginger Chicken - succulent pieces of chicken stir-fried in mild, flavourful sauce with hints of lime and ginger. They strive for consistency, so why not check out if they do?

Known for its cheap and good Thai food (as they boast on their signboard), Jai Thai has become a favourite for many. Indecisive ones will be glad that they have a mixed platter of appetisers, comprising fishcakes, prawncakes, deep fried Thai spring rolls and deep fried beancurd. The Green Curry Chicken is aromatic and pleasantly lighter, so you can pair it with rice without feeling sick. Order the Steamed Tofu with Chicken Basil; the combination goes surprisingly well. If you're heading there for lunch, consider getting their set lunches that come with a main course, drink and dessert.
