Finally home bound but I don't think I can stomach another burger / bagel / sandwich / salad. Decided to try the all time American fav express chinese food. Got a half fried rice- half mixed veggies side w orange chicken and it's a $9 chap chye png. It is quite good actually. Just a bit too oily and salty. But I was pretty happy eating this.

I don't think my photo is doing the food justice. But park avenue is a really nice restaurant. They change their decor according to the season. Although it's spring alr, they are still serving the winter menu because it's still so cold! For starters, they serve cinnamon rolls w pecans, cream cheese and raisins. It was amazing! And not cloyingly sweet like Cinnabon. Then for appetizer I got the kale & machego salad, which looks like a weird ball. But it was amazing! Shredded make w vinegar and machego bits, topped w cheese & drizzled w clover honey. Very light & refreshing! Then for mains I decided to try Park Avenue Oeuf Mollet. If you like Mac & Cheese, you'll love this. This is definitely comfort food. Cooked polenta w a slice of robioto cheese, 2 poached eggs and toasted hazelnuts topped on it. Yum ☺️

The bad thing abt traveling alone is you have no one to share food with. But good thing for half & half. Got a half pastrami sandwich and a matzo ball soup. Seriously the best pastrami ever!! It's so tender & flavourful that you can't believe it's cured meat. Although the rye bread is not great and a little dry, but the star is the pastrami. Love the matzo ball soup too. It really warms you up on a 1 degree day. There is something abt this italian dumpling that makes me want to keep eating it! The cucumbers & pickles make a very nice side to replenish your palate!

Cannoli. An italian fried pastry w cream filling. A pastry that is too difficult to make by the unskilled hands. I usually don't eat fried stuff nor cream things. But theirs just something addictive about this. The fresh cream w a slight sweetness. And they actually added coconut jelly bits inside as well! Yum.

Famous for their single origin coffees. They offer 3 types of coffee methods, from the espresso machine, hand dripped and siphoned. Got this single origin hand dripped coffee and made it an au lait. Love the fruity sour notes.

Liege waffle. A type of Belgium waffle that is actually fermented w yeast, giving it that chewy texture. It is also coated w pearl sugar, giving it that slightly caramelised crunchy exterior. Then topped it w speculoos to bring you to waffle heaven!

My favouritest New York street food. Mixed gyro & chicken over rice w the magical white sauce and amazing hot sauce. The hot sauce just makes you want to scoop more of the white sauce chicken rice mixture into your mouth... And you just keep repeating till you finish the whole plate...

After half a day, I'm still stuck in transit. At least there is a top 10 airport restaurant in Washington-Reagan where I'm stuck at. Craving for a chirashi don, but decided on hot cooked food. Look at how big the serving is! But to be honest, not the freshest. Just a refreshing change from American fare.

My internal flight got delayed due to the snow. So I decided to stop by here for brunch. Ordered a short stack thinking it would be 2 pancakes (and would be manageable). What I didn't expect was that it would be two, but bigger than my face. The maple syrup came in a cup and the bacon was the most fried bacon I've ever had. The pancakes were fluffy and fragrant, with a slight crisp at the edges. Just pure heart clogging American goodness.

Hamburger bread, crudely cut(wasn't even cut to the end), buttered and grilled. Tender, juicy beef patty. Cheese. Shake sauce( loved it! Tasted like mustard + something). Mushroom patty, one single huge portobello mushroom. Tomatoes. Lettuce. Tasted like heaven. Must try in NYC! Don't be scared off by the queue, it moved really fast!

New york's favourite burger, Shake shack! Shake stack is a burger with a beef patty and mushroom patty with shake shack sauce and cheese (and fresh vege). While the smoke stack is a burger with a beef patty, smoked turkey bacon and chilli. Both burgers were really good! Their signature lemonade was very refreshing as well. A must try in New York!

Taste wise, it was pretty good. But just a little too hard.
