The "mentaiko" (marinated roe of the pollock and cod fish) Chef Shaun used to make his pasta sauce, was specially imported from Japan and he said there's a discernible difference when you eat it. True. Somehow, rather than just being one-dimensionally salty, I felt it tasted rich, almost creamy and more complex.
Not that this dish needed much else but there're prawns included. And they were far from itsy-bitsy.
Due to the type of pasta used, the spaghetti veered to the firm side and required a bit of chewing but I didn't mind. Better to have that than overcooked mush.
A great dish here along with the truffle mushroom linguine!!! Pastas here are great!! We tried the 5 cheese pizza, pot of mussel and clams too! Would recommend the pot for sharing with its generous portion and tasty broth that you dip the accompanying baguette in!
This is surely a crowd-pleaser with its winning flavours - you can't go wrong with anything aburi & mentaiko. With that said, this was well-executed and definitely worth every cent. Apart from soft shell crab, there are other variants such as breaded prawns and more salmon.
$2.40. This was surprisingly good! I usually avoid baguette (I hate biting into them) but this was fresh and thus quite crispy. The mentaiko on top and between had a hint of spiciness, and buttery taste, yum.
Decent.

Crabstick, avocado and cucumber rice roll, with raw scallop and spicy mentaiyaki. Couldn't really taste the scallop under the sauce, but the whole thing was pretty shiok anyway. Definitely worth an order on Wednesdays when they have a 50% off sushi rolls promo.
Rice wrapped with nori and mozzarella cheese, topped with aburi salmon and mentai. However IMHO, maki was 50% smaller too.
So simple tossed with just cod roe, spring onions, seaweed and shoyu, but it's so addictively good. Wish they'd added more protein to give the pasta more variance in flavour and texture, though.
