Flavours of Spain ๐ช๐ธ
This oneโs not much of a looker but it sure is one very satisfying Hola Bowl. ๐๐ผ
The pulled pork here is of the best Iโve had in a while: tender, super succulent and lip-smackingly seasoned (note that I may be a bit biased because I love sweet and smoked paprika).
I also loved the more unique sides this came with, especially the celeriac sliced into manageable cubes, pan-roasted with garlic, Italian parsley and rosemary till soft, creamy and left with the faintest hint of licorice. The pickled turnip sticks on the other hand provided a good textural contrast and a tangy relief from the creaminess of the celeriac and the richness of the pork.
Note that youโre not allowed to change any of the Hola Bowl ingredients (not even the grain โ in this case, brown rice), which is why they have the Create Your Own Bowl ($16.50) option.
From the same team behind nose-to-tail restaurant Dehesa comes this casual Grain Traders-esque concept with a spotlight on Spanish flavours. ๐๐ผ
Unfortunately, their pre-selected creations (Hola Bowls, $14.50) weren't available when we visited, but you can still Create Your Own Bowl ($16.50) with their more-than-sufficient spread of grains, proteins and hot/cold toppings. Alternatively, get this uber tasty chicken paella ๐ with one hot, plus two cold veggies. We added one of the recommended proteins (Pork Belly, +$4) too, but it was a little under-seasoned compared to the aggressively flavoursome paella and sides (we opted for the corn with celery, pickled beetroot and roasted peppers).
Will definitely be back to try the Hola Bowls as well as the breakfast selection, esp the Torrijas โค๏ธ (the Spanish equivalent of French toast) and the Spaniard (baked eggs, chorizo and avocado).
