Italian Indulgences 🇮🇹
Although it may look dry, the rabbit ragu was actually tasty and coated the reginette ribbons with enough flavour. Do note that the flavours are on the lighter side. I wish the pasta was more al dente too.
Slow roasted pork belly bordered by (mostly) crispy, crackling skin. Smear the zippy pickled mustard seeds and mint gremolata to help cut through all the goodness (cough cough oiliness cough 🙃).
A MUST ORDER! I’ve been a fan of the marriage between ricotta and honey ever since I tried Cook & Brew’s whipped ricotta with truffle honey. Here it comes with a puddle of chestnut honey and a sprinkling of thyme. Armed with crusty sourdough slices, I could have easily polished this all off by myself!
Out of the three desserts we tried, this fared best. The lemon tart's filling was quite set and not curd-like, plus the crust was a let down. The puffs were something different, blanketed and baked with chocolate (but I like the drier sort of choux shells, so I wasn't a big fan).
While this was not very boozy, it was good enough if you need a sweet finalé.
Hard to go wrong with homemade meatballs simmered in tomato sauce. Their red sauce is made using San Marzano tomatoes and is pretty tangy (an extra dash of salt did the trick for me). We chose gnocchi to go with this, but I found it on the chewy side.
If you love anchovy's umami tsunami, then you'll love the minimal addition of caramelised onions and chilli flakes to fully enjoy the flavours in this. It also works better with dry pasta (we tried it with both spaghetti and angel hair, and liked the latter more)!
Get this if you're looking for something creamy yet not too rich. Wish the egg was more oozy, but thankfully it was still soft-centred. The prosciutto adds a crispy, salty contrast, and while more would have been nice, you can't really complain much with this price.
As previously mentioned, the homemade pasta's on the thinner side here, but the ravioli's thickness was just nice. There's ample ricotta mushroom filling in every piece, complemented by the accompanying tangy San Marzano marinara sauce.
Opted for squid ink pasta to go with the seared (not grilled, as the menu suggests) squid rings in a delicate, briny butter sauce topped with rockets. This was one of my favourite dishes here, perfect if you're looking for something not too heavy.
They roll their fresh pasta thinner than I usually prefer, so make sure you request for it to be al dente to still get that bite.
Ooey gooey mozzarella under a blanket of crunchy breading. Eat this quick and try it with the berry sauce for an interesting contrast.
Deep-fried portobello mushroom strips battered and then deep-fried till crispy on the outside and cushiony on the inside. ☺️ Skip the so-so calamari and order an extra portion of this moreish starter instead.
Although I try to be adventurous, the creature of habit in me wins most of the time. 😅 And this ensemble of homemade pork fennel sausage, panna (cream), scallions and red onions is a perfect example of something I'd order again and again (and again). I usually like tomato-based pizzas more, but give this one a go and I promise you won't regret it!
