Saw recommendations online to try this so we did and it was yummy, sans the fact that we actually doggie bagged this and had it almost 30mins later, resulting in it being less crispy than it was. Nevertheless, the squid was fat and chewy but a tad pricey I feel.

Cheng Mun Chee Kee serves up a wicked bowl of pig organ soup cooked till the soup looks cloudy (testament to the richness of the soup). Each bowl comes with a wide array of innards, meat, tofu and meat balls. Definitely a great supper option. Pro tip: you can refill the soup for free. Just bring it straight to the counter for more soupy goodness.

Can't emphasize enough how good this is. The Ngoh Hiang store used to be at the old Jackson market, then shifted here when the market closed. A huge array of choices, don't ever worry about what to have. But if you need some pointers, take mine! I always go for the radish cake (2 of it cause it finishes so fast!), prawn roll (mm, meaty as can be) and tofu (crusty outside, silky smooth inside). This plate costs $4.80.

Crazy huge plate of BUTTER CRAYFISH, in a beautiful glistening gold. Zi char dinner at JB is always awesome -$13/ head for all the dishes we had here. Definitely bang for your buck.

After trying Beauty in a Pot, we just had to try Tsukada Nojo to see who fared better. Tsukada charges by 'per head' and serves a fixed portion for every person. The ingredients are mostly vegetables (zucchini, baby corn, cabbage, black fungus etc) alongside with 3 meats (chicken, minced pork and prawns). The original broth comes served in curds, which would then melt away into a creamy chicken broth, which tastes very close to chicken ramen soup. Upon adding the vegetables etc, the chicken flavour would tone down, becoming more balanced with the sweetness of the vegetables. $25++ per head and the portion was definitely more than sufficient for one. Between the 2 pots, it's difficult to pick a winner. But I might probably go with Beauty in a Pot for the wider variety of dishes and free flow soup to top up the pot.

Sure sounds like a must-try but the wings were a tad underwhelming. Both the flavours from the batter and salted egg were competing for attention, neither wanting to play the supporting role. I'd say go for the original and if you're not a hard core chicken wing fan, then none at all.

Highly anticipated steamboat dinner with fellow tastemakers and gosh, it sure was worth the wait.

We all walked in full (note: most of us came from tastings right before) at 5pm, and walked out only after 2 rounds of steamboat because the broth is simply too awesome. Made of shark cartilage, the collagen base was creamy and umami. It already taste great when we tried it plain. But to ease the possible jelat feeling, I highly recommend to add in heap loads of vegetables for a sweet refreshing twist.

Must order dishes to throw in include corn (irresistibly sweet, we had 2 rounds of that), tau kee (soak it for 3 seconds! It's most addictive when slightly wet, slightly crispy) and ebiko prawn paste (think har gao prawns topped with ebiko).

Besides, the overall experience was great. From the accommodating wait staff who readily attended to all our requests to the adequately chilled restaurant for a comfortable experience, we really had nothing much to complain about.

Total bill came up to be approximately $35/head.

At a store called 'Popiah. Rojak. Cockles' (talk about branding hahah!). I don't need my pohpiah fancy - no prawns/ lobster meat/ crayfish is totally fine by me. But I appreciate one made with super fresh turnips (I judge it by the crunch) and a perfectly balanced sauce ratio. I think this one from Maxwell totally cuts it. The sweet sauce is neutralized by the savory turnips and enhanced with their kickass spicy chilli, resulting in a mini party in my mouth. At a pocket-friendly price of $1.30/roll, I'd totally recommend to buy more for sharing.

When people ask me for the best ngoh hiang in Singapore, Lao Zhong Zhong is always first to come to mind. Aside from the golden brown and extremely crispy ngoh Hiang items, and my absolute favourite radish cake, what I really loved about it is the kickass spicy, sweet and sour chilli that comes on the side. Note of caution though, it can give you the runs.

Pro tip: Pair this ngoh hiang with the porridge from the store beside or the River South (Hoe Nam) Prawn Mee from opposite.

Lao Zhong Zhong Ngoh Hiang is located at Lao Zhong Zhong Eating House, minutes walk from Potong Pasir MRT.

Be transported back to classic Hong Kong Cha Chan Ting at Legendary Hong Kong, located at Jurong Point. Metal chairs meet classic tiling, creating an all-too-familiar CCT setting, characteristic of Hong Kong.

Ordered a hell lot of dishes for two ladies- steamed pork ribs, chee cheong fun, BBQ pork puffs, polo bun, congee, carrot cake..... Don't expect out of the world, extremely good quality dim sum. But you're sure in for a comforting, hearty and value for money meal.

Pro tip: the Polo bun with butter is a MUST-TRY here. And, come from 2:30-5:30pm to enjoy their happy hour deals.

Legendary Hong Kong is located at Jurong Point, level 3. Nearest train station being Boon Lay Station.

To eat without sight, was a major challenge for someone so visually oriented like me. However, taking away one sense had also elevated the other senses, and I managed to feel the textures and taste the flavours of the ingredients better. I also found better appreciation for smell, which was the first sensory tool I utilized before placing the dish in my mouth. We had a total of 12 dishes in a 3 course meal- 4 starters, 4 bite-sized mains and 4 desserts. A wide variety of ingredients were put into the 12 dishes, each exuding a largely different personality and flavour. Menu changes every month, so I can't quite share what I had yet, else I spoil the surprise. Nevertheless, expect quality ingredients in every dish.

Craving for these golden goodness so I got my parents to drive me down to have it for dinner, despite their discouraging comments about how I wouldn't be able to enjoy it because of my wisdom tooth extraction. And I'm so glad that I made it (and ate it) because these are still so darn good. Fried to golden brown, these treasures are crispy and not-that-oily, the perfect complement to the porridge store that's located right beside it. The most epic moment of the dinner came when I was desperately trying to manually break the prawn rolls into smaller pieces, my mother stole one of the mini bits from me and I just protested, 'why did you steal my piece? I painstakingly tore it apart!!!' Then she sheepishly broke down one whole piece of prawn roll for me as compensation. Yay!!! #hawkerpedia
