Wa Don-Don is one of the best yakiniku restaurants frequent by Japanese in Singapore. We 100% enjoyed the beautiful cuts of high quality beef - beef skirt steak ($25) and tenderloin ($35) with the assorted sides ($13.50). 😍

FIRE! You are definitely missing out if you had not visited Wa Don-Don (@wa_dondon_sg) for their fresh and tender Japanese beef. 😍

Harami Steak ($25/100g) is one of the leanest cut but this chunky steak set the coals on fire with its minimal fat, giving the exterior a nice and beautiful crust while retaining all the sweet and savory juice of the steak. 😘 All it took was 5 mins to blow me away...

Served with silky smooth chawanmushi and a comforting bowl of miso soup, this rice bowl is topped with a huge prawn, lavish cuts of sashimi and grilled eel (unagi) rolled in beautiful omelette (tamago). Serious overcrowding issue but I have absolutely no complaints. 😍


Behind the unassuming wooden door and quiet facade, the restaurant was bustling and filled with office crowd during weekday lunch time. 😲

The set lunch menu ticks all the right boxes. Afforable price range from as low as $15, there are Beef Teriyaki Set, Tempura Set and Fried Chicken Set. Even the popular Chirashi Set is tagged at $18 only. 😉

Feeling famished, I decided to splurge a little and go for the most expensive set lunch - Matsuzushi Bento ($27). Be prepared that there won't be pretty and elegant cuts of sashimi. The cuts are irregular (in a good way) and very thick. So fresh, every mouthful is so shiok! 😍 The prawns are plump and succulent. And the set is served with prawn miso soup and chawanmushi which has unagi hidden in this smooth and silky egg pudding. Variety plus great quality of food, this bento is worth every penny. Definitely coming back again! 😋


Sushiro has probably the most extensive variety of sushi amongst the notable conveyor belt sushi chains in Singapore.

In terms of fluffiness and chewy-ness of the vinegar sushi rice, Sushiro is the hands down winner. 👍🏻

While the diversity of having different toppings to the basic sushi items is impressive, the tastiness factor is pretty subjective to individual's personal preference.

That said, these are my top 10 delicious personal favourites. 😘

Hidden in a corner on L2 of Far East Plaza, this relatively new Japanese restaurant has an extensive menu of mostly beef mains. Hurray for fellow beef lovers~~ Check out my warm reddish sirloin steak with the right medium done-ness! 😋 Be sure to utilize Burpple Beyond for the one-for-one main and drinks at Biseryu. 😉


I first stumbled upon Sandaime Bunji (@sandaime_bunji) in June 2016. I was so impressed with the generous amount and good quality beef of that Wagyu Round Roast Beef Set ($19.90), I was back for another round with another group of foodie friends just a couple of months later.

Fast forward to 2019, I'm back for that beef mountain rice bowl. It was great to know that the price remained constant at $19.90 despite its increased popularity over the years. But I'm sad to say that the new rendition of rather rare/raw roast beef with overly gooey sauce has failed to deliver the tasty roast beef I had three years ago.

Is it popiah? Or spring roll? Nope, this is a plate of gyoza. To be specific, Prawn and Chicken Gyoza (5 pcs for $5) with whole prawn 🦐 in each of them. I love the slightly thick yet chewy and stretchy skin which is very different from the stereotypical gyoza we are familiar with. Big thumbs up to Sunto Gyoza (Stall #81) at Maxwell Food Centre! No joke, I was sandwiched between Japanese in the queue. 😊

Kinmedai | 金目鯛 | Golden Eye Sea Bream has delicate tasting white meat with a pretty pearl pink hue. Available only for this Autumn Harvest Promotion menu!


Bara Chirashi Don ($13.90) from Hokkaido-ya (@hokkaidoyasg) is definitely not mind blowing but the decent standards of ingredients impressed me. They also serve zhnged versions such as mentai aburi and truffle donburis. 😄


When I'm feeling Monday blues, Koh Grill & Sushi Bar is a great place to indulge in some delicious skewers such as my favourite Bacon wrapped Asparagus accompanied with a pint of light and refreshing beer. 😘
