The buttermilk waffles had a nice, crisp exterior yet were still very fluffy inside. I liked that it just had a hint of earl grey flavour and that it wasn’t too overpowering. The tart strawberries balanced out the sweet vanilla ice cream, and everything went well together. Pretty worth it!
The strawberry sundae was quite smooth, although I would have preferred it to be a tad creamier. The elderflower flavour was just right - wasn’t too overpowering. The elderflower jelly and crumbs gave the whole dish some nice contrasting textures with each bite. The buttermilk waffle was one of the better ones I had - crisp, but still soft and fluffy inside. Portion is quite substantial, but perhaps still better to share with friends.
The waffle was quite well done - fluffy outside with a nice crisp outer layer. The portion of ice cream was just right, providing sufficient 'wetness' to compliment the waffle.
Really overdue (considering that this is so near my place) - finally managed to try their waffles and I would say they live up to expectations! I liked that their waffles wasn't the typical, round, crispy-outside-fluffy-inside variation that we all know. The waffle is quite crispy throughout, but isn't tough, and is almost like a soft biscuit. Really liked the texture. But the most surprising and best part of this was their coconut sauce. Generously dribbled all over the dessert, it gave it a nice coconuty fragrance and added sweetness. The flavours really mixed well together, and I would say this was pretty good. Would definitely come back for more.
Red velvet waffle with strawberry shortcake ice cream and drizzled white chocolate rose syrup - a treat fit for a princess indeed. Montana does their waffles really well - crispy outside, but light and fluffy inside. For me, the rose flavouring wasn't too overpowering, and everything came together really nicely. This is sure to satisfy all those with a sweet tooth out there.
Appropriate termed "The Black Velvet", I already liked this black sesame waffle so much more than the other 'charcoal' ones out there that are just plain waffles blackened with food colouring. As someone who doesn't usually like black sesame, this really stood out for me. The combination of black sesame and green tea was perfect. The waffle was fluffy, with an almost cake-like texture (you can go for crispy if you want), and the black sesame crumbled provided a nice crunchy texture. If you want an extra dose of black sesame, you can choose that flavour of ice cream instead! Would really appeal to all the black sesame lovers out there.
This was a tasting courtesy of @montanasingapore. Many thanks to @burpple for the invite!
Buttermilk waffles served with vanilla ice cream, Oreo cookie crumble, and cookie sauce. I felt that the waffle was slightly lacking in terms of flavour and texture. It was kind of dry, not much taste to it, and was too brittle/crispy and not substantial enough - kind of too airy for my liking. But I really liked the vanilla ice cream/cookie sauce combination. The sauce wasn't too overly sweet, and the cookie crumble gave it a nice crunch. Priced at $12.90
While their mains could leave more to be desired, their desserts are pretty good. Their waffles are consistently good - crispy on the outside, but very light and fluffy on the inside. It isn't too dense or heavy. I felt that this particular ice cream flavour wasn't one of their best and I wasn't particularly impressed. You would be better off with their rum and raisin (should they have it)
Much raved about, this was rather underwhelming. While I really liked the waffle, the ice cream was nothing special. The waffle was crispy outside, yet had a fluffy cake-like texture inside. Quite dense, and was really rich and chocolatey so that was a plus point. The hint of root beer was really quite distinctive, but I'm not a fan and it tasted a bit weird to me. The ice cream, while looking seductively black, is just your normal vanilla ice cream that isn't too different from other soft-serves out there. I would say that this isn't really worth it especially considering the price, and Sunday Folks or Creamier would be a better option. Priced at$12.50
What made this stand out was the fact that it wasn't your usual sea-salt something ice cream and waffle combo. Instead, the waffle was paired with Greek yogurt, cinnamon apples, some sort of sugary crumble, and salted caramel sauce. Sweet and tart at the same time, it was a nice change from your usual waffle dessert suspects. It didn't feel as heavy nor sugar-loaded, and is easier to stomach after a meal. The waffle was quite well done as well (crispy and fluffy), which is always a plus.
The soft-serve ice cream really helps this place to stand out from the sea of ice cream waffle cafes. The consistency of the ice cream is just right - it's soft, but not too melty, and holds its shape and form as you're eating it. Because it's so soft, it's super shiok to slather it on the warm, fluffy waffle and stuff it in your mouth. The waffle itself is light and airy, and it's so good that I could eat it alone. No wonder there's always a long queue outside! While it's not one of the cheaper options ($12 or so), I would say that it is worth the price. Everyone should try this place at least once if you're a waffle fan!
One of the early forerunners of the waffle craze, it still manages to remain popular amongst the crowded waffle and ice cream market. The waffles are light, staying crispy on the outside, yet soft and fluffy on the inside. It actually tasted good as well, unlike many others that are quite bland and dry. My favourite ice cream had to be the sea salt gula melaka, which switches things up a little from the more typical salted caramel and provides a little local flavour. The black forrest was not impressive, and tasted like normal chocolate ice cream. Overall, still one of the better waffles out there and really popular judging from the crowd.
