While I didn't enjoy my chocolate croissant, at least the rice bowl was not bad & the coffee delightful. &, also, the service was extremely polite & efficient... To anyone, regardless of whether they're a first-timer or regular clientele (you can tell by the amusing banter).

I observed there was a good mix of dine-ins & takeouts during my ~1 hour meal here; mostly office folks, I reckon (worthy to note that An Honest Cup is not open on weekends).

The best part of my meal at An Honest Cup was the 5oz White ($4.80+) coffee, which is a Double Espresso + Hot Milk for "balanced" flavour. This, compared to the 7oz White option which is listed as "milky".

I'd come back here just for the coffee alone, if I were in the vicinity (they're located in a light industrial estate).

On the flip side, the Morning Glory Waffle ($16+) fared a ton better. I loved the smoked salmon (which is hidden in my picture, lol sad) & gooey oozy yolk of the hard boiled egg, on a deliciously dense Liege waffle.

Avocados don't do much for me in food dishes, but they are present here & I'm sure many would appreciate how creamy & soft the slices are.

Tied together with the siracha aioli, this dish had great taste & mouthfeel, would totally order this again.

My favourite sando was the K-sando ($10+), which is - surprise - a vegetarian option! The kimchi was flavourful, yet not overly spicy or acidic. The kale & kimchi were easy to bite into, & not crazy stringy such that you fear choking on it & dying mid-swallow.

Harmonious flavours in all, together with the miso-glazed eggplant that was slightly sweet & a little bit creamy (like a good soft eggplant should be). The gochujang aioli was also in the right proportion & taste (not so sour like other sauces), tying everything together so well.

The Pollo Avo Club ($13+) had tender smoked chicken with creamy avocado in it. The house-made spicy aioli wasn't crazy spicy, but I did notice an exigent sourness to this dish, which knocked a few points off for this sando.

Overall, it felt imbalanced on the acidity scale - maybe from the sumac onions? If they could tone down on the sourness, this would fare a lot better in my books.

Besides waffles, Stack has sandos on their menu too; we tried 3 of them. Pictured here is Spam & Egg & Egg ($12+). There was lots of egg filling in this sando - a creamy cold egg salad & whole boiled runny egg. That was delightful!

I can't speak much for the spam as I don't actually like spam (blasphemy), but I did notice biting into some corners that you Only Get Bread No Spam. Need to bite strategically..

Other options:
🔹 Chicken of the Sea ($11+): Tuna chunks & raw tuna with apple, onion, kale & pineapple
🔹 Loaded Gun ($13+): Beef Salami, Turkey Ham, Beef Pastrami with provolone & pickles
🔹 Puff Puff ($13+): Smoked salmon with pesto cream cheese, kale, onion & nori

My Big Breakfast Club ($18 nett) took a while to be served, but thankfully I had my coffee (double shot as a default) to keep me happy.

Wasn't feeling a scramble or sunny-side up, so soft boiled it was for me. These are basically hard boiled eggs with a runny yolk, which is how I usually cook them on my own as snack prep. On a brunch platter, though, I wish they had poached eggs (my favourite) as an option..

Mushrooms were my choice of "meat" (for lack of a better word) - as opposed to smoked salmon, ham or bacon. These were plentiful, juicy, & appreciated. Great toasting technique on the sourdough toast as well - crispy but not hard. The spicy baked beans didn't actually feel spicy to me, but lent good flavour to the platter. Was glad to get my veggies in with the halloumi side salad, although the cheese didn't do much for me & I honestly would've been okay without it.

In all, a nice brunch platter that piqued my curiosity. I would love to try their other brunch, pasta, & bagels on the menu. Especially since this is such a nice (albeit small) place to chill at. I can totally see myself spending a nice afternoon here relaxing.

I usually wouldn't order mocktails, but the Burpple Beyond 1-for-1 deals at Lighthouse Bistro were for mains-mocktails pairs (with some exclusions). The drinks were alright, nothing fancy... But the mains were pretty good! More details in my next post.

The Kins' coffee was full-bodied & impressive; part of the reason why I'd return. I picked the largest size - a 7oz White Coffee ($6). Double shot coffee for the win! (The smaller sizes are, by default, single-shot)

The other reason why I'd return: I enjoyed the food that I had. The Tom Yum Pasta ($18) had plenty of fresh seafood ingredients, & the flavours were the right balance of slightly spicy, a little bit sour, & not too salty. I did not try the others - Wagyu Beef Yakiniku Rice Bowl ($20) & Lobster Mac & Cheese ($15) - but received positive feedback about them.

Also, their desserts were bomb. The Kins' Burnt Cheesecake ($8) was actually the original reason why I placed an order with them. If you're bringing this home to eat, I suggest putting it in the fridge for a little while to cool down before consuming, for a firmer texture.

This is the first burnt cheesecake I've ever tried, so I can't say it's the best as I don't have a basis of comparison. However, I will say this - I enjoyed its light texture, unique (but not offensive, as it is only pleasantly not pungently cheesy) flavour so much that I would want to try other burnt cheesecakes as well.

Oh, & the Carrot Cake with Salted Cream Cheese Frosting ($7.50)? Also pretty good.

(This review was written a while ago - but some, if not all, of the menu items are still available!)

While the indoor space on the 1st floor of Good Intentions may look small - check out their 2nd floor! So airy & spacious, IMHO quite a conducive space to work. Or just chill with drink in hand.

Besides cocktails, they have 13 local beers on tap at the moment, & more to come. Free WiFi is available here, which is great cos I managed to get some work done 😁

Comparing against previous reviews - looks like Gather has upped the price of the Off the Bone Galette ($18++). It had good texture, but the flavours were just ordinary. A bit too salty for me. I wasn't expecting too much from ham, gruyere, cheddar & egg though, tbh.

In all, this felt like an overpriced tea time snack... Glad I tried it once, but unfortunately I personally wouldn't return for more.

Pork Sando ($14 nett) has great smoked meat & fixins that pack a punch, however I wish the bread were more toasted & crisp. Nonetheless, a solid sandwich that satiated my hunger.
