Under The Sea 🐙
A 4+1 course meal at Lobster Air as we added on half dozen of oysters. Otherwise the original set consist of a soup, salad, main course, dessert and a coffee/tea.
The half Boston lobster with pasta is at an exorbitant price of $68 with their aglio olio a tad too oily and nothing additionally spectacular about their lobster. For most of their other soup and desserts choices, it comes with a pretty hefty top up too whereby their top up price is what most of other restaurants are charging outside. We opted for the lobster bisque (+$15) and Dark chocolate lava cake (+$8). None of the dishes are exceptional with maybe lobster bisque making the mark, at least it’s not diluted and there’s the umami flavors.
Even with Burpple 1-1, I don’t really find it worth it which kind of explains why we are probably the only table of diners there. It’s either restaurants are trying to marked up to offset such 1-1 discounts and yes your customers can do their math too, otherwise, paying for such a bill, there’s many other better restaurant options out there.
Opted for their Signature Power Drunken Lala Beehoon ($7.90), Refreshing Clear Lala Soup ($7.90) and Fresh Cockles Marinated in Wawa Special Sauce ($11.90). I’m pleasantly surprised at how distinct the soup base were. The flavor of the soup base is very robust and umami sweet from the freshness of lala. The drunken version had a good dash of rice wine and what seems like the fragrance of hua diao jiu too.
Their cockles were so good too. They were generous with the portion and they are really fresh, juicy and plump! It’s so hard to get good cockles nowadays and their lala beehoon definitely make it to my good bowl of comforting food whenever needed!
I love my hums in laksa!! The gravy was lacklustre, missing the local flavors of fragrant aroma from the coconut and spiciness of sambal. It was more towards a bowl of sweet laksa instead. But the big fat juicy cockles did impress me a bit!
Piping hot and gooey cheesy mac & cheese tasted pretty well on this little chilly weather. The dish was cheesy yet not overly neither gelard and with chunks of lobster in between the macaroni. Tasted well it may be but still find it on the pricey end.
Spot the fish! Do you see the salmon and dory among these potatoes chip? What I like most about these fishes are though they are battered and deep fried, the batter was so thin that you could see through to the fish meat and it was extremely crispy and not at all greasy! The salmon was sweet and firm yet flaky with a full bodied flavor. Not only that, the most addictive part of the meal were those thinly sliced fresh potatoes and fried. Airy yet crispy and goes well with the galore of self help and refillable sauce! Skip the salted egg yolk sauce and go for the cheese sauce or the spicy mayo sauce!
Holycrab like it's name specializes in crab which comes in different flavors, traditional and creative unique flavors. Selling at $9/100g, its medium sized crabs was much more worth it than its small sized crabs. Not only were it much bigger, it was meatier too! Their orgasmic crab is a medley of salted egg yolk with curry leaves. On the creamier side less the overwhelming saltiness. Flavor was rather well balanced. Crab meat wise was decently fresh and not at all mashed up. Good to go in groups to try out the different flavors. But crabs aside, generally their main portions were a little too small for sharing!
Marvelous half lobster with fresh crispy crunchy meat! Accompanied with herb rice sitting on a bed of tomato herb and spice stew, beautifully absorbing each and every drop of the essence of the stew. Simply a delectable find at the Manhattan!
Seafood in a bag! Flavor is strong however some of the meat and crab's roe is tough and over cook. But luckily the Sri Lankan crab meat is still tender, fresh and yummy! In love with that.
Fresh and succulent seafood used in this platter creation. Baked lobster was juicy and meaty. Tasty clams soaked in white wine sauce. Grilled squid were a little chewy but well marinated. Not to forget the generous piece of breaded fried fish fillet! Decent satisfying meal! Do try their lobster bisque! It's damm good!
