Sashimi (tuna, yellowtail, flounder) were very fresh and fun to have - they serve you three different dips, the soy sauce, ponzu sauce and a special homemade chilli sauce! Got to say I was a bit skeptical of the chilli but it paired nicely to offer a light kick without overpowering. Thin crusted Japanese oyster with a simple tangy dressing which allowed for the oyster’s briny flavours to shine through. The plump oysters were fresh and creamy! Remember to use Burpple Beyond when you’re here, you can choose from their meat steak, seafood or agemono dishes for one-for-one.

All of us were super excited to see a slice of this Japanese melon for dessert! It was super, super sweet and served as a great end to our meal. For desserts, they have three options on their menu - Seasonal Assorted Japanese Fruits ($24), Ice Cream ($6) and French Toast with Cinnamon Powder, Maple Syrup & Ice Cream ($12). A new dessert with a burning (literally) presentation! There were lots of different textures in here - mainly sea coconut cubes, jackfruit pudding and raspberries, topped off with sugarcane meringue that’s torched right in front of you by the chefs. It’s not too sweet either, so it serves as a good end to a meal here.

Stuffed wings in spices, paired with a yogurt based sauce. Personally found the spice rub a little too overwhelming, but meat was tender.

So gooooood! Absolutely loved this cup of smooth and silky truffle chawanmushi. It was so flavourful with just enough of that punch of truffle.

You know how at many tendon spots you’ll end up leaving the shop smelling like a walking tendon yourself? 😂 There’s no such problem here at Tenjin! I loved their calm and inviting space tucked on the 3rd floor of Shaw Centre.

We got to try their new inaniwa udon set that came with cold udon, mentsuyu, assorted tempura and kyabetsu salad. Was very happy to see it on the menu as it’s one of my favorite kinds of udon! Though the tempura should be the star of the show, the thin noodles didn’t lose out at all. They were chewy, smooth and picked up its light sauce very well. As with the other bowls, the lightly battered tempura were cleanly fried and not at all greasy. Will surely be back!
