Newly opened a few days ago, this store originating from Japan is well known for their cheese cookies that resembles the highly raved 白色恋人. Also available in store are the milk cheesecake and strawberry milk Swiss roll, apart from the softserve which is what most people are queuing for now 😅. I opted for the twist to enjoy the best of both worlds. The softserve is smooth and creamy, with a slight milky flavour and a subtle lingering saltiness from the cheese flavour. Personally preferred the latter as the milk softserve (made from Jersey cow milk with Hokkaido mascarpone cheese) was rather mild in flavour and lacked the characteristic dairy aroma of a Hokkaido milk. The cheese softserve was made with a mixture of cream cheese and Gouda cheese which came off as a good balance of sweet-salty, with a mild lingering pleasant aftertaste that provided a good dimension to cut through the other sweeter elements. The milk cheesecake resembled that of Letao’s double fromage, made with cream cheese from France & Hokkaido, blended with fresh cream, mousse and wrapped in a thin paper-like crepe. It had a light, creamy melt-in-the mouth texture that was luscious and enjoyable without being too overwhelming on the palate. On the other hand, the salt & Camembert biscuit was what I enjoyed most here, and apparently this is what they have always been known for. The cookie was crisp, with a thin layer of camembert cheese cream sandwiched within, spiced up with the addition of salt that added a pleasant lingering salty aftertaste. No regrets having this all by myself, though a sinful indulgence. Would certainly be back for more and to try the other flavours of cheese cookies! 🧀🍪

The houjicha flavour was mild and barely detectable, with the bulk of flavours derived from cinnamon instead (which I am not a fan of 😕). Perhaps also due to the fact that I am a hardcore houjicha fan, but even my dining partner agreed that the houjicha flavour was really subtle and not distinct. This time round, the texture had more improvement though, after my previous experience with a dry one. The one I had here was more moist and fully soaked, a soft and pudding-like interior beneath a crisp, crusty danish-like flaky exterior that’s garnished with sprinkles of nuts. A vanilla ice cream was also served alongside, which I actually enjoyed it much more than the bread [email protected]😅. It was smooth, creamy and milky with a lingering fragrance and essence of vanilla (look at that black specks of vanilla pod 😍!). Nevertheless, for the anti-houjicha fans, this might be an ideal dessert to satisfy your sweet tooth and cravings.
[PS: Even though @vxx.co had ceased operations and would be relocating, the new outlet would still be serving drinks and some desserts too, from what I heard from them ☺️. ] Looking forward to their new dessert creations which hopefully... would be more impressive 😬. .

💖 An exclusive item by Chef Robert that isn’t available on the current menu, each french toast cubes are pan fried to a crisp, caramelised golden brown exterior, with peanut butter sandwiched within. A resemblance to a Hong Kong style French toast, which is also Chef Robert’s hometown! 😅 Drizzled with honey and served with a scoop of strawberry ice cream, the toast is soft, fluffy and pillowy with slightly crisp, crusty edges. Really love the combination with peanut butter that added a pleasant subtle lingering saltiness and a smooth, creamy and nutty texture and flavour 😋. Though I would have very much preferred vanilla ice cream instead of strawberry (not a fan of fruity flavours of 🍦), the French toast cubes alone were suffice to satisfy my sweet little tooth! 😆 [PS: This dish has yet to be named, feel free to provide any ideas / suggestions😉] .

Why Sanum when u can get a twister at a lower pricing and with a greater proportion of froyo:toppings? 😌 With 4 flavours to choose from, 2 of the offerings are frozen yogurt whereas the other 2 are low fat ice cream (vanilla/ chocolate).Apart from the natural flavour, a weekly rotational flavour is also available for the frozen yogurt, with this week’s flavour being “Fruit of the forest” aka. Berries in short. The characteristic fruity sweetness of the assorted berries along with the tangy, sour note of the frozen yogurt was a refreshing perk-me-up indeed! ✨ But still, the natural flavour here remains my bias 💕. One thing that I fancied most here was the wide variety of unique and cool toppings available here that always left me spoilt for choice. Really wished that I can have them all at one seating🙈! This time, I decided to give the “crunch hazelnut” sauce (swipe to the end to view) a shot, having tried before the cookies cream black and smorroch sauce previously. The nutty flavour was pretty much akin to that of peanut butter, with a pleasant crisp factor of crushed nuts embedded within the thick, creamy albeit gritty sauce. With the addition of sliced kiwis, strawberries, it was a certainly a berry fruit-ful indulgence that made my day! 💖 (pun intended 🙈) .

🍡 Torched and flamed to a caramelised burnt exterior, the dango balls were a complementary pairing to the soy sauce based softserve, with its characteristic chewy, mochi texture and a subtle caramelised burnt flavour. The mitarashi softserve bears a striking resemblance to salted caramel, with a pleasant lingering saltiness which I personally would have preferred to be more intense. Saltiness > sweetness anytime for me😋! The addition of the kuromitsu sauce could have been omitted though as the sweetness got a tad overwhelming after awhile. If only there’s mitarashi sauce instead the combination would have been perfect! 🤤💖

As for the ice cream, @discoverthedark is well known for their varying chocolate flavours of different brands and % of cocoa. Having tried their signature 80% dark chocolate (which was really good and perfect for hardcore chocoholics),I decided to opt for another chocolate variation and chose 75% Single origin Tanzania, along with seasalt butterscotch. The ice cream were smooth, thick and creamy with the 75% Tanzania bearing a lingering fruity aftertaste amidst the robust, bittersweet cocoa flavour. On the other hand, the seasalt butterscotch had a subtle tinge of caramelised sweetness with a mild lingering salty aftertaste which could have been more distinct. A wide variety of toppings are available as well, ranging from caramelised almonds, chocolate granola (my pick!), dark chocolate shavings as well as sauces eg. salted caramel. On the downside, the characteristic nutty flavour of hazelnut was pretty mild in the waffle batter and perhaps overshadowed by the dark chocolate. Would have been great if the exterior was more crisp too! [PS: This dark chocolate hazelnut waffle flavour might only be available for a limited time! ]

The first fruit based flavour that was launched recently at @matchayasg , this was an ultimate limited edition flavour available for only a few days (yesterday was the last day unfortunately 😢). Glad to be able to rush down in time to try it yesterday before it was replaced with another new mystery flavour! 🙏🏻 No regrets as usual, with the softserve bearing a pleasant tinge of fruity sweetness of Kyoho grapes that was refreshing as well! Texture was also smooth, creamy and light - less dense than the usual tea flavours. It’s a great pity that the Brie cheese wasn’t available anymore when I went, was so looking forward to this unique combination of 🧀 +🍦... 😭 Nevertheless, I still enjoyed the softserve which was naturally and subtly sweet and refreshing to the palate! 💖 .

Newly launched today, I had no regrets making a special trip down just to get my hands on this flavour. In case you are wondering, mitarashi is made from shoyu ; yes that’s right- SOY SAUCE! 🍶 Usually found as a sauce drizzled on dango balls, it’s now churned into a softserve, made using a premium grade Shoyu aged for 10 years sourced specially from Akita in Japan by @matchayasg 💚. Limited portions available! Just like many out there, the thoughts of “soy sauce” 酱油 in a softserve resulted in some initial doubts and qualms that I decided to play safe and opted for mixed flavour (just in case savoury softserve aren’t my cup of tea 🍵 ). However, just one mouth was all I took to be get me sold! 💖 Bearing a smooth, creamy and melt-in-the mouth texture, the subtle savoury umami flavour of shoyu was accompanied with a lingering caramelised, burnt fragrance that leggit resembled salted caramel- a perfect combination that worked wonders to my palate and made me instantly regretted not having it as a single flavour instead! The kinako kuromitsu parfait (mixed flavour) comes with a base of toasted rice puffs drizzled with kuromitsu sauce which lended a pleasant crunch factor, azuki beans (which I requested to be omitted), topped with jelly-like chewy warabi mochi, shiratama (the renowned partner-in-crime to mitarashi🍦), dustings of kinako powder that added a lingering roasted flavour and fragrance. Last but not least, the default Langue de chat biscuit that’s always so match-a necessity (for me at least 🙈). The matcha softserve, as usual bears a distinctive, lingering earthy flavour with a characteristic bitter undertone which overwhelmed the weaker mitarashi flavour. So gonna get a solo mitarashi on my next visit!!! Please let it be available till next week at least 🙏🏻🙏🏻 .

✨ Unfortunately yesterday was the last day for the promotion but hopefully there would be other upcoming promotions yea? XD A few of the popular flavours include pistachio (top seller), hazelnut, coconut, fruit based ones eg lemon & basil, strawberry - as mentioned by the staff but being a hardcore matchaholic, I can never say NO when there’s matcha flavour displayed right in front of my sight 😅. What’s more, with this great deal, I decided to get 2 cups for myself too! Thank god there’s no such limit of 1 cup/ customer 👍🏻! The gelato here are freshly churned with a thick, smooth creamy texture that I adore totally. The matcha flavour was surprisingly distinct, with a subtle lingering characteristic earthy bitter undertone. On the other hand, the hazelnut was one that surprisingly got me hooked on, with a lingering nutty, roasted flavour that was fragrant! ✨ One cup is definitely not enough for me and I was glad to have gotten 2! However if given the choice I would certainly not mind forgoing my diet plans and ordering more 🙈. Looking forward to try their other flavours as well as waffles next time! 😋 .

Somehow or rather the gorgeous lilac hue reminded me of lavender instead 😅. Though the softserve was smooth, creamy with a melt-in-the mouth texture, the characteristic flavour of purple potato was a mild and barely detectable one; just a sweet, milky and vanilla-alike flavour. Served with crisp meringues, the softserve melts pretty fast hence making it a mandatory point for a fast shot and immediate consumption. .

As an anti-durian consumer, I chose the former to be paired with the salted egg mochi balls. Served with white chocolate crunch, the softserve is essentially a lotus flavoured one, with a characteristic sweetness and a soft, creamy and smooth melt-in-the mouth texture. Literally felt as if I was having mooncakes in a deconstructed form when the burst salted egg yolk revealed itself with a slight explosion from the charcoal mochi balls. Salted egg, lotus, what’s just missing is the pastry crust... with the mochi balls as a substitute? Sure, why not! Served hot, the mochi balls were soft and chewy and filled generously with creamy, luscious salted egg yolk fillings that had a subtle lingering salty aftertaste. Would have preferred if the salted egg yolk was slightly more salty as the custard-like sweetness got me into a sugar coma when paired with another sweet element- lotus softserve. The white chocolate crunch resembled Rice Krispies which added a pleasant crunch factor to the softserve. (PS: Mooncake and durian softserve are only available for a limited time. Do catch these seasonal flavours before they are gone!) In the meantime, I m guessing the next rotational flavour would be Halloween-themed? 🤔

😋 Swipe to view the live action of its “explosion” and the aftermath! ✨ Being a fan of salted egg, this dish that I was most looking forward to try here managed to meet up to expectations ; IMO on par with the one I had at Mouth Restaurant. The bun was baked to perfection with a crisp crusty surface layer that came with a lingering buttery fragrance and a soft, pillowy interior. On the other hand, the salted egg filling is creamy, thick with a distinctive, luscious flavour and a characteristic lingering saltiness that was subtle and pleasant. My favourite dish among all I have tried, I would certainly order this again if I were to visit for the 2nd time (which I most probably would to check out the other dishes) 😋 !
