New offering at my favourite Hongkong cafe in town. Silky smooth curd was cold and inviting but lacked soy flavour. Felt more like a milk tart with a sweet pastry shell. Stick to their signature egg tarts if you're here!


That Harum Manis Mango Tart by @tartebycherylkoh with fragrant fat slices of mangoes, and great vanilla creme to tart base ratio making this morning complete.

Toast box's Golden Lava Egg Tart

Was glad to find that they bake fresh egg tarts at Toast Box, this one within Food Republic. Tart shell was crumbly (like you'd find on the top of an apple crumble) and I loved that the grainy bottom "lava" added extra touch of egg and savouriness. Get this and a cup of tea for an afternoon treat!

Part of Pantler's sweet selections. I think the chefs behind these treats truly put in a great amount of effort and thought process before churning out these petit gateaux, flavours are well balanced and best part is, they're not too sweet. This Lemon tart's one of my better purchases from Pantler. It had a good amount of acidity that was balanced with the mascarpone mousse.



Residing in Hong Kong the past year has truly spoilt my taste for these egg curd pastries, and only a few are able to measure up now.
Thankfully, I've found these from Tong Heng. Their soft creme brulee like curds are encased in the Cantonese-style crusty, yet slightly flaky savoury pastry shell. Everyone one in the family from grandparents to grandkids loved it.
If you're here, try their Char Siew Sou, it's pretty good too.

The handmade pastry tart shell was a big win for me. This one was filled with chocolate feuillitine, creamy gooey caramel and large chunks of roasted hazelnuts. 9bucks/tart
