7 "Hearty Tasty Worthy" Eats In Stockholm
If you're up for hidden/special menus, Jappi offers a secret Chinese-only menu with special dishes at special prices; all the dishes on this menu costs 99 SEK, making it easy to account for. Great place for sharing.
The food served here is authentic (China) Chinese food, with intense amounts of chili oil, flakes, and salt - basically, heavy flavours. I really loved this 土豆丝 which is potato strips fried in vinegar and chilies. Super tasty!

(For KTH students, a good alternative for your kebab fix would be Kebab Kitchen located less than 5 mins from the train station)
If you're looking to do some bulking, Pamyra Kebab is the place for you.
The tender and lightly spiced meat covers an entire half of a 20cm diameter plate and the carbs (fries, rice, bread) covers the other half of the plate. The portions here are absolutely huge, even for me with a huge appetite; I could survive both lunch and dinner with this single meal. It isn't any wonder why there were many construction workers patronizing the restaurant.
Each set comes with a free drink, a free flow salad bar, and free flow sauces (tomato and garlic aioli) which are kickass when eaten with the kebabs.
One downside would be the obscure location in the district of Årsta, located south of Södermalm. Fortunately, Liljeholmstorget is nearby where you could get some shopping or groceries done on the way back.
Note: if you want to order 'rice', pronounce 'ris' instead, lest they mistake it for 'fries' #truestory

(Pardon the poor picture for this was taken in fall where the sky is completely dark after 4pm, but) this store is one that you must definitely visit if you are visiting Stockholm. Near the river and an observation deck where you can view a nice panorama of the city, this street food store offers Fried Strömming, a fish that is famous in Sweden, in various forms.
The rulle is basically a wrap, filled with generous amounts of mashed potato, and bits of cabbage, onions, and cucumber, along with some dressing. More importantly, there were 4 chunks of fried fish inside it.
Other variations of serving up the fried strömming include open biscuits, burger, and a main with sides.

Sucuk (lamb) & Chorizo (pork)
They say it's the best hotdog stand here in Stockholm and I would say for all of my criterion, it would be :) loved the juiciness of the Sucuk that had a good kick of peppery flavor. Didn't really like the chorizo which had a bit of plastic taste. The sausages were generous in size, and the baguette was filled with sauerkraut and some type of mustard which was sweet yet spicy. Although slightly off from the city center (4 stops from central), it's worth the trip, at least once.

With each bite, you would get a crackle from the slightly crisp outer ring and a bounciness from the fluffy insides. The blueberries were not fresh but added a small tinge of sourness, and the bacon was nicely fried. Topped with authentic maple syrup, this made for a delectable sweet and savory treat. Best pancakes I've had so far in my life.

You can't come to Stockholm and not try this Kannebulle which is basically a cinnamon roll. This roll is more like cinnamon monster because of its sheer size; it is about 3 times bigger than the normal cinnamon rolls you find in stores. It's size justifies the amount of layers of dough which is fluffy yet firm with a crispy outer layer. Each layer is generously swathed with thick cinnamon paste, spiced and sweet at the same time. The bits of icing on the top provides an extra dose of sugar rush. Throw in a cup of coffee and this roll could sufficiently fill you up for a meal or a very filling afternoon tea. Not the cheapest, going at around 9 SGD (which is about 5 times the price of a normal roll), but given the quality and the humongous portion, it's definitely worth trying the best kannebulle in Stockholm.

Perfectly grilled beef patty with a colour of medium rare, the firmness of a medium, and an unprecedented tenderness. I didn't struggle to chew the patty at all it was extremely smooth and the beef flavour was rich. As I took this picture, the patty was oozing out its glorious juices as I squeezed the slightly crisp sweet buns to lock it in focus.
To my surprise, there was a layer of beef chili on top of the patty which gave the whole flavour and added punch of wet saltiness.
The other condiments like onions, tomatoes, pickles and lettuce were fresh. The coleslaw on the side was served cold and plain with just a slight dash of wasabi mayonnaise, while the Pommes frites were lightly fried and salted. Unexpectedly enjoyed this one!

"I love eating. But I hate getting fat. I love eating. But I only want to eat the best. I love eating. But I'm reluctant to spend too much." The above are a few paradoxes that describe my love-hate relationship with food. Yet at the same time they define my principles for choosing the places which I love to eat: 1) Hearty 2) Tasty 3) Worthy (of my money)
