My efforts to locate this hidden gem in a quiet corner behind the bustling streets of Chinatown paid off. The tarts were on point in every aspects. From the perfectly smooth, sweet and citrusy lemon meringue tart, to the rich and gooey chocolate tart topped with crunchy hazelnuts and speculoos. π
The bill for such tasty tarts was only $6 after using Burpple Beyond to enjoy the 1-for-1 deal! Download Burpple app and subscribe to Burpple Beyond now. Quote to enjoy 20% off all day membership with 1-for-1 deals at burpproved curated makan places. π
The taste of matcha was very subtle (apparent from the colour), but I had realistic expectations. For 2 bucks, the milky soft serve with the rich and thick chocolate hot fudge π is still my all-time favourite dessert from the big M.
The hot sweltering weather calls for a cup of velvety sweet Signature Mango Soft Serve ($6.90 / 12oz) from Maxi Mango (@maximango_sg).
The famous mango soft serve brand insightfully open its first outlet in Singapore during the hottest month of the year. I've heard about the long hours of queue back in the Philippines. Lucky me, I was at the bright orangey-yellow store at Capitol Piazza at its quietest time. π₯°
Layered in between the incredibly thick mangoey π₯ mango soft serve are mango puree and cubed mangoes in mangoey syrup. π€£ Basically, the sugar level is like 200%. I wonder π€ if the Singapore outlet will introduce the choice of sweetness level since many of us are getting more health conscious these days.
Using uji matcha, matcha lovers will love the distinctive bittersweet taste. I like that the pancake exterior is slightly chewy and stretchy and the comforting sweet red bean paste oozed out on the very first bite!
Watermelon Cake ($30) from DJ Bakery at Esplanade (@esplanadesingapore) is actually a vanilla sponge cake in disguise. It would've been perfect if the filling was literally watermelon cake but for the wallet-friendly price tag, vivid and glossy exterior, I've got no complaints at all.
Good things come to those who wait, especially for us who have been a fan of Matchaya (@matchayasg) since it first opened at Icon Village and enticed us with its velvety and intense flavoured soft serves.
Now I get to double and share my happiness by using #BurppleBeyond to enjoy #1for1 of any soft serve and ice milk tea. π
My personal favourite is houjicha soft serve and I highly recommend black sesame soft serve. π
I finally caught up with the Thai Milk Tea Γ Sea Salt Soft Serve ($5.40). The signature sea salt dolls up in a baby blue hue twirling with the light orange Thai milk tea. Aesthetically beautiful but the taste is nothing quite fancy. I don't mean it in a bad way. Aqua S (@aquas.sg) delivered what it is selling - pretty blue sea salt flavoured soft serve and I'm satisfied with what I get at 5 bucks for that creamy and luscious OTT cup of ice cream. π
What a pleasuring ice cream experience at Dopa Dopa Creamery (@dopadopa.sg)! Focusing on natural flavours, the artisanal ice cream parlour showcases some very uncommon flavours such as Green Tea Toasted Rice and Watermelon Mint Sorbet. π
While I enjoy the nutty and sweet Home Roasted Hazelnut, my ultimate favourite is Fresh Mint & Chocolate Chip. This is not your regular green mint ice cream with choco bits from the tub, Dopa Dopa Creamery uses real mint leaves to churn the ice cream and you can see and taste bits of mint leaves. Also, they use grated dark chocolate so overall the sweetness is balanced out. Winner! π
Cooling myself down with this refreshing Mango Peach Smoothie at Typhoon Cafe in this sweltering weather. π₯ Though the smoothie might need more blending, the ice bits were slightly rough and coarse. Mango and peach taste unsurprisingly delicious together, complementing each other's sweetness and acidity. π
I love having frozen treats on a cooling day because it stays in that beautiful form longer. π The new Fuji Apple Froyo ($2.50) from KFC contains probiotics, 98% fat-free and is made with quality Australian milk! A healthier choice of sweet treat is always welcomed. π
Selected as one of the best pancakes shops in Tokyo, Riz Labo Kitchen (@rizlabosg) showcases one of the best Japanese souffle pancakes that wobble as they make way to your table. π
The matcha maniac in me won't let this Uji Matcha Souffle Pancakes ($18) slipped away. Served with Hokkaido azuki red beans, whipped cream and maple syrup, I was pleasantly surprised how the fluffy yet moist consistency is similar to that of a Japanese cheesecake. π
Strawberry Souffle Pancakes ($20) from Riz Labo Kitchen (@rizlabosg) is served with fresh strawberries in whipped cream, berry sauce, and strawberry ice cream. I have a thing for "limited" stuff and when I heard that there are only 10 sets a day, say no more. π
With most of the ingredients imported from Japan (even the staff are from Japan), this is probably the most authentic Japanese souffle pancakes you will taste without flying to the land of the rising sun. π
As expected, the Japanese staff were very friendly and polite. ε±±ζ¬γγγθ¦ͺεγ«θͺ¬ζγγ¦γγγ¦γγγγ¨γ! π
