Originally concocted as a time-limited item in commemoration of SG50, the Pandan Pancakes ($14+) enjoyed immense popularity, so much so that it earned a permanent spot on the menu.

Think American-style breakfast meets your favourite local flavours. The secret is in the gula melaka sauce which takes the coconut ice cream and lightly-flavoured pancake to the next level.

There are a few must-try items when you visit Tolidoās Espresso Nook. The much-raved-about Rosti ($18 ā $22+) is cooked to perfection with gloriously crisp strands on the outside, and waxy ones on the inside. The sour cream lifts the oiliness of the potatoes, and the accompanying smoked salmon and sausages add a touch of umami, though I daresay the rosti is perfect on its own.

In short, donāt even think of Marcheās after this ā there is nothing that comes close to this perfection on a plate.

[MEDIA] Familiar brunch territory can be found in theĀ Cheeky Breakfast Club [$22], a substantially sized breakfast platter that includes fluffy scrambled eggs (sorry, no chilli crab here), balsamic roasted mushrooms, honey confit cherry tomatoes, spinach, and one of the thickest cuts of bacon Iāve seen.
With such an enticing mixture of aromas wafting from this plate, youāll be struggling to resist the temptation to dig right in while your cafe hopping buddies clamour for a photo of this beautifully plated dish!

[MEDIA] TheĀ Kaya Pancakes [$15]Ā combines the best of both worlds ā Western brunch fare infused with local flavours. Made in-house, theĀ kayaĀ sauce adds richness and sweetness to the fluffy pancake, which has been quartered and stacked alongside a medley of fresh berries and jam.
Iām not one to recommend sweets that often, seeing as Iām biased towards savoury food. But believe me when I say the Kaya Pancakes are worth breaking your diet for!

[MEDIA] Thanks to the use of tomatoes, Cheekyās Smashed Avocado Toast [$18] yields a more citrusy note. The texture is also more similar to egg mayonnaise, as the avocado bits are larger. Something for more adventurous brunch goers.

[MEDIA] Curiously, I couldnāt find any trace of chilli crab meat, although the briny and spicy notes did cut through the richness of the silky smooth scrambled eggs. Best shared between three people as this is a really generous portion.

Best kept secret of Clarke Quay has gotta be this. Each trio of sourdough toast is generously topped with smashed avocado, onsen egg, and your choice of smoked salmon or chicken. The Mala Smoked Salmon {$15} is slightly on the pungent side, and definitely for those seeking an extra numbing kick with their brunch.
Look out for their daily menu on Instagram!

Magic Mushroom Jaffles with a side of sweet potato mash {$14} Truffled sautƩed mushrooms and deep fried Cajun oysters held together by mozzarella cheese, really filling even for ardent carnivores like yours truly. {#chueonchangi} Runny eggs atop creamy rich avocado and shredded crab meat though? Yes please!
Another Taiwanese brand comes to Singapore; appreciated the wholesame taste of their soya bean milk, which lacked the usual sweetness from our local concoctions.
{#chueontiongbahru} Decided to venture out of my usual scrambled eggs and avocado toast at Merci Marcel and I gotta say - no regrets! Yolk done right, sitting atop sourdough toast held together by a generous spread of ham and cheese. While a thoroughly savoury dish, it did not border on overly salty, with the salad providing a good balance of freshness. A must have for ham and cheese lovers!
