This concoction was packed with flavours - pandan infused lemonade with southern sweet tea. Fizzy tea with a pandan aftertaste that actually stays for a while. I was so confused, my brain couldn't decide whether this was tea, lemonade, fizzy soda or a juiced peranakan snack. 🤣 Interesting drink lined up for The Beast's National Day Specials.

CNN International once chose beef rendang as one of the most delicious food in the world and many of us are suckers for fries and mozzarella cheese is one of top guilty pleasures. BAM! The Beast put all these together and it worked. 😋

You have to eat this while it's hot because you won't wanna miss the cheese pull. The rendang was really spicy and the fries absorbed the lip-burning chilli oil. The only slight disappointment was that the rendang was not flavourful enough and it was too mushy. Fix that and I will report to The Beast every weekend! 😄

This dense pandan waffle with a light crisp is topped with a big crispy and savoury fried salted egg yolk chicken cutlet and you can add your desired amount of creamy milk sauce to pile on extra layers of flavour. 😄

Personally, I prefer my waffle to be dry without the oil dripping down from the cutlet. So I placed the chicken by the side as soon as I finished snapping photos. But if you enjoy fragrant salted egg yolk chicken juices absorbed by the waffle, you are in for a treat! 😙

I think it's a consensus that the best nasi lemak is still the traditional nasi lemak but McDonald's created a storm last month with its short-lived Nasi Lemak Burger which left many of us craving for it.

The Beast's rendition of the Nasi Lemak Burger is an upgrade as it included the quintessential elements of a nasi lemak that McDonald's failed to make it right - spicy shiok sambal, runny egg and fragrant coconut rice. Here's the twist, The Beast deep fried the coconut rice and made them into "buns". They also added spam fries on the side. 😋

Just look at that big and thick slab of crunchy fried chicken thigh that was sandwiched in between! The portion was definitely for two or more to share as the rice buns were so dense and filling too. Novelty aside, I think there's still room for improvement in the taste department because the flavours were lacking and didn't really come together very well. But it was worth trying! 😉

The sparkling rosemary-infused soda is mixed with 3 sugar-cured fruits - orange, grapefruit and lemon. Creating a right balance between the sweet and citrusy notes, the drink was really delightful! 😉

Pork Katsu Donburi is another exclusive item at the latest Café&Meal MUJI @ Plaza Singapura. Though I found the pork katsu a bit dry but it tasted so much better after I broke the oozesome onsen egg and mixed everything in it. I also liked how the fresh greens added crunch and refreshing elements to the bowl. Satisfying! 😊

Hurray! MUJI has opened its flagship store in Singapore at Plaza Singapura and its popular eatery Café&Meal boosts a 70-seater area. The latest MUJI cafe @ Plaza Singapura has exclusive items which I just had to try.

Butter Curry Cheese Baked Chicken Rice tricked me into thinking it has curry chicken. Nope there's a twist to this! It has carrots and zucchini cooked in mildly spiced Japanese butter curry drenched on top of 16 grain rice with FRIED CHICKEN. The taste was quite predictable and fried chicken lost its crisp but I definitely enjoyed this comforting baked rice for its healthier choice of rice and the to-die-for cheese pull from the warm mozzarella cheese au gratin. 😍

Ofanz Rojak Popiah #01-39

There is neither sushi rice nor popiah fillings. Instead, fresh chilled crunchy strips of vegetables and pork floss are tightly rolled with mayo in popiah skin and crispy seaweed, achieving this maki-like sushi popiah. 😮 This is something new that I'm glad I tried, for novelty's sake. Refreshing and healthy, it serves as a good starter or even a great meal option for those on diet. 😉 #BurppleBestOfTampines

Sawadee ka! Famous for their thai-style "lao po bing" aka wife's biscuit, April's Bakery has humbly opened a store at a quiet corner outside Tampines MRT Station (opp Tampines Mall). Freshly baked daily and available in 10 flavours, I was spoilt for choice seeing these flaky pies.

As a matcha maniac, I enjoyed the strong green tea pie the most. The highly recommended taro pie has a smooth taro filling with delicate touch of sweetness. Also, it contains gingko nuts resembling the Chinese dessert yam paste and the Teochew yam mooncake. 😘

If you enjoy pumpkin as much as I do, do try the pumpkin pie! The pumpkin paste is moist and not overly sweet. Thai milk tea pie was average and it appeals more to those who enjoys sugary snacks.

Best of all, these pies are generously stuffed with fillings with that crispy and flaky exterior. They taste good while hot and also as great when chilled! 😋 #BurppleBestOfTampines

Who knew Island Café does Western better than their signatures? 😜 Albeit not the best I've had, I enjoyed the soft tacos with crispy fillets better than its signature laksa. Perhaps the tacos would score more points if the wasabi slaw was more pungent and spicier. 😄

Island Café & Bar is running a set menu promotion for only $22 for any main items (including western and signatures) with a choice of home-brewed tea. 😉

Topped with sautéed squid, crab meat and mesclun salad, this salted egg yolk base pizza was unexpectedly delightful. The salted egg yolk was not overwhelming but strong enough for the good savory taste that complements the bland squid. Not to worry, the sautéed squid was not rubbery at all. The chunky squids were cooked to the right chewy texture. 😉

Who can say no to fries? Served hot and crispy, these fries were so flavourful from the Japanese shoyu (soy sauce) powder, sansho (pepper) and parmesan cheese powder, creating the umami taste. 😍
