had wanted to go over to sinseonggak near gongdeok station (must freaking climb a horrendous long flight of stairs) which has been in operation since 1981, but alas, we went there too late and it was closed. our only plate of jajangmyeon in seoul at the multi-chains hongkong banjum either endorsed or helmed by the famous chef baek. edible and cheap but definitely no wow factor

shopped a few times at express bus terminal basement but never had a decent meal because missus shopped like forever. this time round, we hit surface and went to veteran kalguksu (noodle soup) just beside shinsegae. full house is the norm here because the hearty cloudy broth topped with gochugaru (red pepper flakes), roasted seaweed flakes, and ground perilla seeds is da perfect companion for a winter. also because it seems damn legit to have a bowl now as supper. ha

100% made from brown rice grain with pumpkin chunks, dried persimmon and sunflower seeds to crunch on - sobok at hongdae, probably the healthiest ice cream ever eaten. so good i never mind is sub zero temperature.

so burpple app connects not just a forever hungry community for food within perimeters of singapore food haven but also food at hundred miles away. all thanks to russell leong's recommendation on my burpple post, i got to know gangnam myeonok, one of the most famous galbi-jjim (braised short ribs) restaurants in korea. not the most wallet friendly for a medium serving (59k won), but gosh is the portion enough to present on a joseon king's royal table. not fork tender like our bak guk teh kind, but effortlessly slip off from the bones still and enjoyable to the last bite. uber marination for a beef game here is unprecedented. also comes with hearty bowl of clear sweetest soup and you will have no freaking idea is beef stock based. fret not if you are not at gangnam area cause i had this at myeongdong (exit 6, straight till you find osulloc and a floor signage before osulloc points you to 5th floor beef heaven)

have not tried the one in raffles city but we decided to go straight to the source, korea! good-to-share humongous portion and totally a rice thief with deep colored savory (very) sauce with firm chunky chicken pieces. go easy with rice ordering though, chewy glass noodles comes with this hearty dish!
