A refreshing chilled starter that we enjoyed, though definitely on the pricey end. Seaweed had a slightly crunchy texture, unlike how they are usually more soft in soups.

Got this along our 1 for 1 mains with Burpple Beyond - super worth it!

Saw @that_dex’s heads-up about this amazing new deal - PUTIEN’s on Burpple Beyond, with 1 for 1s for their mains, vegetables and beancurd! It was then an easy choice for our family lunch today - side note, only realised recently that my family & I have never had PUTIEN before, and I’m really not sure why 😂 Tried a few items and our favourites were this Heng Hwa Bee Hoon with its generous bits of haebi and scallop, the slightly tangy Seaweed and Mini Shrimps starter and the seasonal Crispy Oyster. Didn’t have anymore stomach space to try the stir fried yam but will definitely be back very soon! This bee hoon is $10.90 for small, $32.70 for large.

Loved the al dente noodle texture here with the appetising tang of the chilli vinaigrette. It had a pretty good heat as well. Had the Ebiko Prawn Paste Shrimp Ramen ($15.50) as our other bowl, hence picked the prawn dumplings as the topping for this. The bowl came with 4 of them! I actually liked these big dumplings much more than their prawn paste, for it was generously filled with juicy prawns and pork. They were firm and crunchy, and were of much better value!

Have been wanting to try Le Shrimp and recently snagged a ShopBack voucher for this bowl at half price, so I finally got around to having a meal there! Was expecting a better crunch of the prawn paste, but they definitely used a good amount of prawns in them. Thought our noodles were a little overcooked and could have done with a better bite, but what won us over was that broth. It was thick, slightly creamy and rich, packed with the sweetness from the prawns. Also enjoyed that touch of char in the broth. I’ve got to say that it can get a bit heavy after awhile - had this shared with the dry chilli vinaigrette ramen, and I’d recommend to do that too!

Appetising dish to share and the portion was not bad for its price! Sauce had a slight kick of savoury heat. There’s also Burpple Beyond here for the mains.

This, to our surprise, came with lots of ingredients! Slices of tender pork collar with vegetables, crinkle-cut potatoes and even sweet potato noodles, all in a slightly thick spicy sour sauce. It was appetising, good for sharing and would go well with rice.

Had one of our CNY meals at Yun Nans and with the huge crowd we saw, they made a smart move to limit the number of dishes available to choose from with their CNY Ala Carte Menu. This crispy hor fun was our table’s unanimous favourite. Its eggy truffle prawn broth comes separated, and the waitress helps to pour it in only upon serving - so you’re sure to enjoy it hot and fresh, with the crispy parts retaining its crunch. The hor fun had a light wok hei, and the savoury sauce was flavourful in its prawn flavour.

This was one of my favourite dishes from the first visit to Yun Nans in Jewel. Really liked how delicate yet flavourful this soup was - all done without a single drop of water, but only the precious chicken essence collected during its pressure steaming process. It’s as good as I remember, and the second method of enjoying the tender chicken meat drenched in an addictive chilli sauce is so smart. Works well!

Extensive menu here at Go Noodle House, we ended up taking quite a while to decide what to get! Couldn’t miss the bursting pork meatballs since it’s their signature. We got it in their classic superior soup and topped up $3.50 for the homemade fish paste. Liked how customisable the menu is - noodles are a choice between mi xian and beehoon, while the broth is between superior soup and homemade spicy soup. Pick a main topping and you can further add on up to 3 more if you’d like.

The superior fish bone broth is served with a small cup of Chinese wine. We tasted the original before adding it in and we liked how it elevated the clear, comforting broth. Though the meatballs weren’t exactly ‘bursting’, they were filled with juicy and well-seasoned minced pork. Fish paste were the soft sort without any fishiness.

Last had Honguo many years ago and I think I remember a creamier and more flavourful broth back then. You get to choose among the 9 ($9.20), 12 ($10.20) or 15 items like this to go along with the noodles.

Preferred the tortellini bowl as it had more tender meat, but similarly, we weren’t a big fan of the slightly doughy taste the noodles added into the broth. Would have liked slightly firmer noodles to go along!

Thought it was a teeny bit plain to have this on its own, but the creamy pork bone broth was comforting. Although it was a little more diluted due the addition of noodles (compared to the same bowl of broth served with our dry noodles), it was still rich and easy to slurp down. The wanton skin was smooth and silky, while its vegetable pork filling was tender and well seasoned!
