Dessert Stops: Asian
These babies were sweating profusely at the intense Singapore hot sun, we had to take this picture in less than 3 mins before ending up in a pile of liquid!

Never before has a gelato tasted this light and refreshing yet so full of flavour. All 3 flavours - purple sweet potato, matcha, okinawan tofu - were all amazing to me. Check out their POPUP STORE at Raffles Xchange (just outside TCC). -
Many thanks to Lawrence for being such a kind host and to @burpple for the invite! •

One of my favourite Cheng Teng's because of the quantity and the generous portions of ingredients like the longans, ice jelly and white fungus. Love the fact that it is not too sweet. Absolutely adore the shaved ice as well which beats ice cubes any day, making it an almost perfect refreshing drink, dessert, or snack.

Had a Thai iced tea flavour which was flavored with some powder. Get a more organic flavour like Nutella or milo to be a little more healthy heh. Really liked the texture of these rolls - it was semi hard and creamy. And of course one can always feast your eyes on the making process of these lovely rolls on the ultra cold metal machine ✌🏻️

Typical shaved ice which offers a much cheaper alternative to the crazed bingsu. Shaved ice didn't have much flavour but the obscure pieces of mango were really sweet and made up for it.

Comes with a coconut full of coconut ice cream, 3 toppings, and a cup of coconut water. Loved how there was still some pulp on the coconut to scratch off. Coconut tasted fresh but be careful of the fast melting coconut ice cream that could get pretty messy; that shows you that the ice cream is fresh, which is great. Thought it was quite heavy for a dessert but perhaps it was because I had this after consuming half of a KFC family feast...

Beautiful looking red ruby that tastes as good as it looks. This dish features a combination of tapioca and water chestnut. The red cubes are water chestnut pieces wrapped in red gelee. Pretty sure its homemade as the pieces are uneven and the red gelee nicely peels away from the chestnut with each bite. A great, refreshing dessert after some wonderful hawker delights from the other stalls.

A cheaper version of Blackball, I decided to try their all-in-one jelly. I felt that the entire concoction was way too sweet, with most of the sugar coming from the grass jelly syrup as well as the red bean. Other condiments like the nuts and barley didn't really add much other than giving a variety of flavour and textures. The multi-coloured taro balls were nice though. I think it would be more worth it to just have their grass jelly which goes at $2.

Tipped as one of the best sellers, I finally tried this Creme brûlée look alike. However, it was underwhelming at best. It was nice that the taro was pipping hot but it was not much and did not carry enough flavour. The sago merely added starchyness to the texture and the top layer was also bland. Stick to the glutinous rice in vanilla sauce!

"I love eating. But I hate getting fat. I love eating. But I only want to eat the best. I love eating. But I'm reluctant to spend too much." The above are a few paradoxes that describe my love-hate relationship with food. Yet at the same time they define my principles for choosing the places which I love to eat: 1) Hearty 2) Tasty 3) Worthy (of my money)
