What's For Lunch? 🍴☀️
A refreshing & super flavorful don. The salmon & scallop cubes are fresh but sliced a lil' on the slimmer side. This bowl seems to be a tad sweet due to the sauce that they use but isn't too overpowering. The fresh seafood, tamago, nori & fish roe paired w the rice makes a great lunch option. It isn't too heavy & you'd be safe from a food coma after. 🍣⭐️
Love this salad! Chicken breast was soft & moist in bite size. The anchovy dressing with shaved Parmesan paired really well w the roasted cauliflower & mixed greens. A great healthy lunch for one! 💚
A hearty, value for money & comfort aglio olio! For $19, you get 3 tiger prawns (cooked perfectly) & sweet, plump scallops with a good portion of pasta. Loved that they were generous with the garlic & parsley. The added toasted breadcrumbs was a really good move as it created more texture to the dish. I could definitely see myself coming back here for more. ❤️❤️
We went for Lemon & Herb for the flame grilled Portuguese chicken. Meat was ridiculously tender and has the smokey flavors of the grill. However, the chicken was way overly salty. Not sure what attributed to the high sodium, if it was the sauce or something else that they seasoned the meat with but definitely get some rice or chips to help lessen the blow. A drink would be great to wash it all down as well.
The patty here at Oporto is more on the thin side so I suggest going for a double if you'd like a better meat to bun ratio! 🍔 Tender chicken fillets w lettuce, cheese, creamy mayo & Oporto's original chilli sauce. This was a rather satisfying burger for it's price. Waiting time was short too, for a full house. The chicken fillet seemed to be lightly seasoned and relied quite abit on the sauces for flavor. With the combination of a soft bun & tender chicken, this burger is quite delicate. Would have personally preferred if there was a firm element (bun or patty) for more depth.
Taça is Portuguese for bowl & this grilled chicken rice bowl was absolutely delicious & satisfying! Customizable by choosing your own choice of sauce (Original Chilli, Lemon & Herb, Garlic Sauce, Mayo Sauce, Prego Sauce & BBQ Sauce). I went for the spicy tangy Original Chilli which brought a great heat & went really well w their flavored rice & grilled, juicy chicken chunks. The bowl even came w a side of crunchy lettuce for a nice refreshing element! A hearty bowl that's perfect for 1.
Lightly sauced, cubed swordfish belly on Japanese pearl rice. Generous serving of fresh, crunchy & juicy swordfish belly cubes! I liked that the seasoning was done lightly & not too salty & overpowering so you can still taste the original sweetness of the fish. 😌👌🏻✨ Definitely get this is you're a fan of swordfish!
Cooked sea eel slices with a savory-sweet sauce & seaweed. They are really generous with their fishes. With every bowl of don ordered, there were a lot of fish slices which was great for value! ❤️ I loved the smokey charred flavors of the soft sea eels which paired well with the umami seaweed! Will definitely have this again if I'm in the area.
Generous serving of thick maguro slices that were seared perfectly. Rice was soft, fluffy & well-seasoned w Japanese vinegar. A very comforting & value for money don. You can even add another $2 for a side of edamame & miso soup to complete your meal! A great fuss-free meal option if you're in the area, be it lunch or dinner 👍🏻✨
Seared wagyu beef slices on rice served with miso soup! The beef was so tender, juicy & smoky. I especially enjoyed the garlic chips sprinkled on top of the beef that helped elevated the savory flavours of the beef & added a nice crunch to the bowl. The egg was also gooey & the yolk added a creamy touch to the rice. A super good deal for $18.90! Will definitely come again ❤️
Southpaw is open for lunch now! ✨ And this sashimi unajyu set lunch is definitely a winner. It has one of everything if you are spoilt for choice. Mixed sashimi mini platter with a big slab of perfectly grilled unagi served on savory seaweed rice, with a bowl of miso soup. This is the ultimate comfort lunch. Super value for money! Will definitely have this again when I'm feeling for jap ❤️
Challenged the Level 2 Spiciness 🌶🌶 Cha Ppong which is the more commonly found Ppong in Korea. Level 2 was definitely spicy as warned by the server! 🔥🔥Despite the intense fiery flavours, the seafood broth was super delicious as well! A hefty serving of noodles, mussels, squid, onions & quail eggs. This is definitely one for those spicy lovers! The Il Ppong which is inspired by Japanese flavours had a lighter broth but still packed with seafood sweetness. This Ppong has a light drizzle of chilli oil in it which gives it a tamer heat. Good for those who are looking for sthg spicy but not into full on Korean fiery chilli heat. Would definitely recommend these 2 ppongs for soup based options! ❤️❤️🔥
