Fab Fry Up ($25)
.
Time for some hearty breakfast from @thefabulousbakerboy with 2 eggs done just the way you want it, roasted potatoes, sauteed mushrooms, sausages, caramelized onions, grilled potatoes, baked beans, sour dough toast and turkey bacon. Sorry turkey but bacon ain’t bacon when it’s turkey 😂. Still makes for a wow breakfast though

Iced Praline Mocha ($7)

Keep calm and drink Mocha with this version @therefinerysg. So thick and subtly sweet, watching warm milk flow onto that gianl iceball of mocha has its satisfaction. Great choice for the crazily warm weather these days.

Duck Confit ($16)
.
Woot! New cafe alert! The menu while not extensive, has many eye-catching dishes like this neatly frenched duck confit served with a red wine poached pear and red wine sauce. The duck leg is done well with a light crispy exterior and a delicious bite from the fatty skin. There is also a bed of smooth velvety mash soaking up all that juices from the duck leg making it a superb accompaniment. The poached pear was good though the wine flavour was not exactly strong. Overall, a great dish for the price point!

Summer Chicken Stew ($14.50)
.
One very large and juicy herb roasted chicken leg sitting in a sundried tomato broth accompanied with potatoes and carrots served with 2 slices of toasted sourdough makes for a really hearty meal that’s not overly filling. The broth had a nice tangy flavour with a tinge of heat and after I was done polishing up the bowl, not a drop was left behind. Yummylicious! While dining @lunarcoffeebrewers , a cup of their cold tea macchiato is strongly recommended!

Iced Chocolate ($7)
.
Nothing like chilling and having an iced cold drink in this terribly warm weather. @punch.gram located along North Canal Road has a very nicely decorated interior with a swanky courtyard for people who don’t mind the heat. The menu is kept simple but the fruity slushies I had my eye on were sold out by 1.30pm! This iced chocolate whilst tasting chocolatey, had a rather sandy texture at the base even after incessant stirring.

Luncheon Fries ($7)

Never say no to spam fries and this one by @Oberstrassesg is hard to pass up on at just $7. Overall, decent but maybe it would be better if the spam was coated with a layer of flour before being deepfried. Also loved the accompanying aioli.

Chilli Crab Pasta ($14.90)
.
Penne coated with thick homemade crab bisque served with crab meat, cherry tomatoes and tobiko. This pasta surprisingly packed a decent amount of heat. There were also a few pieces of croutons (probably to mimic fried mantou?) which was an interesting first for me. The penne did a good job of filling itself full of that crab gravy. At this price-point, this would be one of my must-order recommendations!

Farmer’s Rosti ($14.50)
.
Not many places I know in SG serves up rosti besides Marche and really delighter to have tried @Oberstrassesg which specializes in Rosti. The Farmer’s Rosti was housemade, crispy on the outer layer with a nice golden brown and moist inside and served with a light sour cream. The 2 sunny side up topped on the Rosti was a nice inclusion as the soft yolk added that umami punch to the rosti. Also loved that jumbo and super juicy veal bratwurst which was enough to go around with every mouthful of rosti. Starting my day off here really made me happy! Also to note is that everything on the menu is at wallet friendly prices!

Salted Caramel Brownie Cookie ($5.35)
.
Piled up on a classy looking tray, these brownie cookies caught my eye in an instant and were calling out to me with their golden brown salted caramel filling oozing out on the sides. A tad expensive for a cookie but if you think about it as though you were paying for a cookie plus a brownie, then i guess it makes some sense? Cookie texture was crumbly with a slight brownie touch (ie. not so chewy). Whilst the salted caramel centre was generous, I found it overly salted and lacking in that sticky caramel taste and texture.

Half Baked Cookie Dough ($10)
.
Thinking about this wicked cookie dough dessert @thehangarsg I had weeks ago. Freshly baked upon order, think crusty exterior with a chewy warm centre topped with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream, almond flakes and drizzled lusciously with chocolate sauce. If it is inevitable getting phat then at least make it worth the while!

Spaghetti with Pan-fried Sea Bass ($18)
.
Back @papercranesg for their 1-for-1 pastas (every tues & thurs) and I cannot think of a better pasta deal elsewhere! You get to choose any 2 pastas (doesn’t have to be the same choice) from their seasonal menu promising to bring you you their freshest produce and latest creations. This spaghetti was tossed in brown butter and roasted onion sauce, delivering a light yet tasty flavour. The seabass cubes are prepared using fresh seabass supplied by Ah Hua Kelong! I’m so sad to see this place become just a memory by month end.

Southern Style Fried Chicken ($15)
.
Shooting myself in the foot for not popping by earlier even though I’ve heard about @papercranesg for some time from @nantheless . There couldn’t be a better time to pop by than on Mondays for a fried chicken fanatic. Mondays is one-for-one day for their popular southern style fried chicken and therefore, at $15, you get 2 plates of 3 LARGE and juicy pieces of fried chicken with an absolutely crispy, crunchy and crumbly crust that’s addictively good to munch on. Accompany that with their tangy and slightly fiery house-made chilli paste and I’m sure a return trip would be necessary!
.
Papercrane also serves up other one-for-one offers on other days. I’ll be heading over soon for their one-for-one pastas every Tuesdays and Thursdays! How’s that for a great deal!
