Sg Cafe For 'Wannabe' Hipsters
Meatball Pasta
.
Looking at this meatball pasta from @freetherobot.sg is just making me crave for the weekend so badly. Al dente pasta served with 5 giant meatballs that are juicy and delicious. Couldnāt ask for any improvements to this!
Almond Croissant ($4)
.
Sweet way to begin the Sunday @cshhcoffee ! Warmed up upon order , less of a puff pastry texture inside and more cakey and topped with chopped almonds and icing sugar. Pairs well with their camomile mint tea($6).
Flat White ($5.50)
.
Flat white from @hinoki_sg now located @habitat_sg with a robust roasty flavour. Pleasant way to be chilling on Deepavali!
462 Laksa Prawn Pasta ($17)
.
Laksa Prawn Pasta @Tolidosnook not quite the way I remembered it to be but loving this wetter version just as much. I would describe this as laksa with the noodles replaced by spaghetti but missing some cockles and taupok. Well executed, slurp-worthy lemak gravy and a generous portion overall. Dining here just got better with the new #burpplebeyond ās 1-for-1 deal. We ended up opting for the NZ Striploin Roast Beef Sandwich ($17) for our other free main. Super worth it brunch overall.
Berry Matcha Lava Cake ($15)
.
Presentation on point, flavour checked, a matcha cake flowing with matcha lava served with berry compote to cut through the sweetness makes this dessert one of the best options to end of brunch @thuscoffeesg . I was totally smitten with the very instagrammable interior of the space and even more allured by the food selection offered.
Big Brekky ($17)
.
Weekend big brekky @freetherobot to start the weekend right! In love with everything on this plate, especially the soft toasted brioche and the fluffy scrambled eggs. An absolute choice for big breakfast eaters
Salted Egg Chicken Burger ($16.90)
.
Tucked away in a rather quiet part of amk is @theworkbenchbistro which was surprisingly crowded probably due to the mouthwatering items they have available on the menu. They are famed for their salted egg items and just a look at the golden lava drenching that piece of fried chicken was enough to get me hooked! I also loved the pillowy bun served with the chicken. The fries did fall short as I think they just werenāt salted enough.
Crispy Fish Fingers ($12)
.
Nothing like chilling in a nicely decked-out cafe tucked away in the quiet neighbourhood of sembawang hills on a long weekend. Excellent ambience and great food, our orders really wowed us. This crispy fish fingers is made from snapper fillet, each coated with a crusty and crispy exterior, the way I love my fried fish done. Dunk it generously in that tartar sauce for thatās what sinful pleasures is all about. Also, for $12, thereās plentiful to go around so thats a major plus for me!
āThe Epicā Beef Gyudon with Foie Gras ($25)
.
This may seem pricey but with a generous portion of fine sliced rib-eye topped with truffle hon shimeiji mushrooms, an onsen tamago and a thick slab of pan-seared foie gras, the bowl is seriously satisfying. Consider sharing this as the portion is large enough for 2 to share and derive sufficient satisfaction whilst still trying other dishes on the menu.
Fab Fry Up ($25)
.
Time for some hearty breakfast from @thefabulousbakerboy with 2 eggs done just the way you want it, roasted potatoes, sauteed mushrooms, sausages, caramelized onions, grilled potatoes, baked beans, sour dough toast and turkey bacon. Sorry turkey but bacon aināt bacon when itās turkey š. Still makes for a wow breakfast though
Iced Praline Mocha ($7)
.
Keep calm and drink Mocha with this version @therefinerysg. So thick and subtly sweet, watching warm milk flow onto that gianl iceball of mocha has its satisfaction. Great choice for the crazily warm weather these days.
Duck Confit ($16)
.
Woot! New cafe alert! The menu while not extensive, has many eye-catching dishes like this neatly frenched duck confit served with a red wine poached pear and red wine sauce. The duck leg is done well with a light crispy exterior and a delicious bite from the fatty skin. There is also a bed of smooth velvety mash soaking up all that juices from the duck leg making it a superb accompaniment. The poached pear was good though the wine flavour was not exactly strong. Overall, a great dish for the price point!
