Restoran Wong Ah Wah, situated a stone-throw away from our AirBnb, is one of KL famous Zi Char store that you can't miss.
Lured there by the famed BBQ Chicken Wings that priced at myr3.20 per piece (min order 2 pieces), we are no exception. Special marinated sauce (including honey for sweetness) coats the chicken wings as they smoked it prior to barbecuing. Results in smokey, char taste wings that retain the tenderness.
Made of Belgian white chocolate couvertures oozes fine Japanese matcha, though I would prefer more bitter than sweet. Azuki beans paste and a large scoop of Kapiti vanilla ice cream complements it. Interestingly, they chose candied calamansi to accent the matcha taste.
A cze char place which I have only faint recollection about and I really struggled to recall with whom I have visited this place some 20 odd years ago. This time, we have ordered Indo curry fish head, salted egg crabs, sambal lala, butter fried baby squid, Hong Kong choy sum, fresh steamed otak and not to forget the signature 三樓 炒米粉 (stir fried rice vermicelli). I only had the chance to take this shot, and quickly resumed the battle for the dishes with the rest of my kakis. Thoroughly enjoyed the cze char, it's fkawesome. Wouldn't want to wait another 20 years to taste this again.
Before Salted Egg Croissant craze hit SG, KL has it too so we couldn't miss this opportunity to try Le Bread's Egg Yolk Custard Croissant (myr6.90). Thick salted egg custard oozes as you cut open the croissant. Each bite was blissful as they had the right amount of salted egg yolk, making this a savoury delight. Totally worth the CALORIES!
