2 munchies: Exuding golden-brown gorgeousness, but unfortunately the pancakes lacked fluffiness and were so dry that they couldn't quite absorb the maple syrup. Diners should also be given the liberty to adjust the amount of sweetener we want for the pancakes. The crunchy walnut was the only thing I enjoyed about this dish.
Conveniently located near the golf course at Keppel Club, this laidback bayside cafe is a good spot for enjoying post-game brunch with your family. There is a sheltered play area for young children, while older kids will have fun putting together their own set meal ($12) using the illustrated menu, with choices like spaghetti and meatballs, fish fingers and DIY sundaes. Apart from usual brunch favourites like Eggs Benedict ($16), there are also more substantial mains like Pan-Roasted Seabass ($27) and Beef Mac & Cheese ($20), available from 11:30am.

No time to organise a play date in advance? Bring your children down to the Saturday Social BBQ at Timbre @ Gillman Barracks. From 4pm every Saturday, toddlers can frolick with their new friends in the wading pools while older ones can work off excess energy on bouncy castles. Meanwhile, parents can chill out with an ice cold beer (from $12) in hand. Share a Grilled Porterhouse Beef Steak ($48) or order the Roasted Duck Pizza ($20) to share amongst the family. Start your day right with a morning walk in Hort Park while your kids dodge, run and swing around the massive outdoor playground, all within your line of sight. Then head to brunch at Vineyard, a French-Italian bistro. The star here is the massive Vineyard Breakfast Club ($18) — apple-braised short ribs served with scrambled eggs, capsicum, toast and a generous portion of truffle fries (!). Little ones can tuck into the Pan-cakelets ($8), fluffy pancakes served with fresh berries and whip cream, or load up on the carb-heavy Carly Carbonara ($7) before jumping away in the bouncy castle (set up on weekends; till late afternoon).

Up for a drive to the far east? Acquaint Gen Z children with the days gone by at this retro-themed cafe near Changi Beach Club. Housed in a restored bungalow, everything — from the vintage car parked outside to chairs and knick knacks — is an ode to the 1960s. Make it a multi-generation day out, so grandparents can regale kids with tales of yesteryear. Let young ones work up an appetite playing hopscotch, then have the whole family tuck into local fare ike Pork Cutlet Rice with Curry ($18), Ter Kah Beehoon ($15) with braised pig trotter's and Battered Otah Sticks ($13). Granted, the prices are on the high side, but the food is tasty and the ambience is unique. For dessert, skip the Chinese sweet soups and go for old-school cakes like Black Forest ($8) and Pandan ($5) instead.

Inspire young ones to eat healthy at this Bukit Timah cafe, which offers wholesome fare and a good selection of raw food dishes. The compact children's pizza menu offers nourishing dishes like Brown Rice Fried Rice ($7.50) and Chocolate Monkey ($4.50), a blend of cashew milk, banana, medjool dates and organic raw cacao powder. Parents can enjoy equally nutritious eats like the popular raw Zucchini Pesto Pasta ($14) and Wild Barramundi Brown Rice Bowl ($16), perhaps while sipping on a glass of organic wine (from $14 a glass, $12 during Happy Hour from 5-7pm daily). Pro-tip: The cafe uses lots of nuts in their recipes, so let them know ahead if you're dining with food allergies.
