Super fresh and generous with the portion! I usually have some stomach discomfort after eating raw fish, but never at omote. Went there on a Sunday evening and was quite crowded, would suggest making reservations in advance!
The pork literally melted in ma mouth! I find the “maggie” noodles in the dish makes a different to the texture. It’s like all soft and crunchy too!
Apart from the amazing Chirashi Don, the other dishes fared well too, such as the Wakadori Karaage ($7.90), Grilled Salmon Fish Head with Salt ($12.80), Bean Paste Soup with Salmon Fish Head & Stirred Egg ($8.80) and Salmon Sashimi ($14.80). The deep-fried marinated chicken is flavourful, tender and crispy, and the grilled salmon fish head and salmon fish head soup are comforting and delicious. Love it!
One of the few go-to-dimsum places for supper. Menu has plenty of pictures which makes ordering easy. Food price ranges from $4-$6 each. Recommends their duck porridge and crab bee hoon (which was out of stock when we were there).
I liked that the rosti tasted freshly made, and it went well with the sour cream and scallions. Everything felt a tad bit oily towards the end, but it's a nice change from my usual order of the wild rocket burger!

The ice cream was slightly frozen and the sponge cake was more dense that expected. While still a unique and very visually appealing dessert, I'd rather take the money and order another one of their delicious mains 😉

Thanks @burpple and @redpansg for the invite and hosting!
Pizza has a thin crust and contains ham, mushrooms and fish flakes. Pizza has light flavours and is just right for a lunch or a light dinner. Supposed to be a signature dish of the cafe. Cafe has gained popularity recently and so is rather crowded. Children sitting at nearby tables create a noisy environment that is not conducive for conversation.
Shop Name: Sakon Thai
Location: 152 Serangoon N
Food ordered: Mussels pot (Vegetable Nage, Small) - $20, Flank Steak - $28, 1 pint HoeGarden (1-for-1 half pint happy hour) - $10 (all not inclusive of gst yet)
Price: $69.50 total
Verdict: Nice ambience to chill out and lay back from the hustle. We chose this out of the rest based on online reviews which says its the best option for good food and money. The mussel pot comes with fries (not sure why this combination) and though the mussels are slighly overcooked, the fries is good (can ask for mayo and ketchup to go with). We had the steak medium rare and I have to say it is above average though it is slight pricey. The steak comes with sour cream mashed potato which was well made too.
Return?: Good place to hang out with friends away from town. But must come right after salary payout :P
Haven't had these in a really long while since the Cze Char stall at the old Trinity@Paya Lebar closed. Glad I visited a Hainanese Cze Char for dinner tonight!
