Tuesday got me thinking of the flavorful chicken rice risotto I had a week ago !
An east meet west combination which turns out to be perfect !
More chilli please 🌶🌶🌶
Love the large, juicy Australian beef patty, done to your liking.
Wrapped in a thin envelope of eggy goodness, topped with lettuce, onions, and a house secret sauce. Also love the criss-cut fries on the side!
Such an unassuming plate of pasta that taste so good! For someone who has a strong restrain over carbs for dinner, I could not help but finish this plate!
We started off with their signature cocktails; to the left there's The Gin, The Flower and The Bowtie ($23) and to the right, Sake My Cucumber ($21). The drinks were a prelude to a wholesome East-meets-West fusion gastronomic experience. For a refreshing, palate-cleansing and otherwise fun yet suggestive drink, I say go for the Sake My Cucumber which is mixed using sake, cucumber, fresh mint, chartreuse and sparkling water.

This was a tasting hosted by @lebinchotan and many thanks to @huntingtoncomms @bruiseylee for the invite.

Ironically, the most anticipated dish turned out to be the biggest disappointment. Beef was a little too rare (bleeding all over the plate, hence making everything a bit too wet). A little more doneness could've lent more flavour, too. The uni was only alright - wouldn't expect them to have torched better-grade uni anyway. The inside of the wagyu was also stuffed with way too many onions, overwhelming the already lacking beefy flavour.

Nice place and food. Every dishes look so delicious
Boasting 23 craft brews on tap, this bar in Jalan Besar serves fantastic beers from all over the world like Mikkeller and To Øl, paired alongside tasty Asian eats — a match made in heaven, in our humble opinion. From light, fruity ales to smoky dark porters and even a current gluten-free offering from Mikkeller, trust them when they say there is a beer for everyone! Prices average at $9 for a half pint (250ml) and $17 for a pint (500ml). When in doubt, simply approach the knowledgeable servers for recommendations and even a quick taste. The food menu sees plenty of familiar flavours with the likes of Har Cheong Gai (prawn paste wings, $12.50), Asian Poutine (fries slathered in your choice of chilli crab, laksa, satay or salted egg yolk sauce, $9) and Garlic Fried Rice ($7.50). The relaxed, retro vibes, great beers and friendly servers make this a great spot for a chillout date as well as casual drinks with friends.
Avg price: $30 per person

If you're a fan of Maison Ikkoku's cocktails, you're going to swoon over their latest concept housed in the Pinacothèque De Paris, right in the heart of Fort Canning Park's lush grounds. While most make the trek to this unexpected hideout for its underground vibe (think copper pipes, filament bulbs and velvet curtains) and excellent cocktails, the value-for-money, 12-course omakase set ($68) is its best kept secret, and just the thing for an intimate date night. The selection offers foolproof dishes that are also available on the à la carte menu such as The Sea ($38, à la carte), an indulgent starter of Hokkaido scallops, ikura and tobiko, as well as The Nest ($28, à la carte), a parmigiano-reggiano and mozzarella custard. For the complete experience, opt for the cocktail pairing (from $18, available for every dish) and imbibe on Maison Ikkoku's bespoke tipples. The pairings are all well thought out — for example, the marvellous whisky-based 'Antibiotic', infused with young ginger and smoke (using Jack Daniel's wood chips), goes seamlessly well with The Nest's rich flavours.
Ambience: Sexy and playful
Price: Avg $140 per couple, $200 with drinks
