The braised beef short ribs ($70) was served along curly fries and shaved cheese, a simple salad with balsamic dressing and a chilli sauce. The sauce isn't too spicy, ribs were tender but for such a simple dish, it wasn't that impressive for the price.
First time trying orzo pasta and it tasted great, with bacon bits mixed in. However, it was a tad too oily, and I need to complain about the chicken itself. It was juicy and tender, but they stuffed the inside with too strong a seasoning (?) filling(tasted like rosemary) and the bacon kinda fell apart instead of wrapping nicely round the chicken. My cheese was also served downwards, with the heat of the orzo melting it before I could properly cut into it. Poor execution and lack of consistency, as my friend's chicken bleu had melted cheese atop the chicken. Concept of the dish is good, but still quite a few misses, especially with the cheese.
This carrot and beetroot soup was so flavourful-the colour was very pretty as well. It was a thin soup and served with a slice of homemade bread and sour cream (?Not sure what it is as it tasted sourish like yogurt) on the side. Unique flavours that blended well and made it a refreshing, light choice. (They served it in a cauldron-style pot to make it extra wicked)
The red and blue waffles sandwiched a hidden sticky surprise of gooey marshmallow. However, I felt the waffles lacked taste and were too chewy (maybe due to the marshmallow). The salted caramel and caramel biscuit ice-cream flavours were meh. Caramel biscuit was nice but the more I ate it the less caramel I could taste.
Not so great sticky date pudding for $12. They just microwaved a banana cake, drizzled caramel sauce atop, and placed a scoop of ice-cream atop. Taste was ok but not worth $12.
Fluffy hotcake baked with apples within and decorated with strawberries, blueberries, pistachios(which unfortunately went soft) and a dusting of powdered sugar! The mix of hot and cold was soo good, really love the generous scoop of vanilla bean ice-cream. After a while, the taste of the hotcake gets boring though, and I felt myself going for more honey to pair with the cake😂 Definitely should share with friends as it is quite large!
The shell pasta is covered in a blanket medley of 3 cheeses; poking into the mixture and drawing out the pasta is super satisfying as you watch the strands of ooey-gooey cheese pull away from the pasta mixture and into your mouth. They were very generous with the cheese, beef, pasta; basically everything. The beef was tender and not too fatty, the carrots added colour; the whole dish was baked to perfection, topped off with crumbs and a lovely side of arugula. I love this dish!
The burger had a juicy beef patty topped with a fried egg-the yolk oozed out when my friends cut into it! The truffle fries were crisp and for $5, quite a generous serving.
The avacado toastie consists of avacado and cheese sandwiched between crisp grilled bread. The bread was soft yet toasty, and the filling combination was so simple yet satisfying.I didn't enjoy the side salad though as I felt the dressing was too strong.
Perfectly poached egg atop braised beef cheek and 3 crisp rosti-like potato pancakes! Love the unique elements and contrast of flavours, definitely an interesting dish. Beef cheek has a melt-in-your-mouth texture; The potato cakes varied in thickness though-1 was thick, the other thin😂 I liked mine thick
The portion was HUGE. 3 huge portobello mushrooms, lotsa avacado, 2 poached eggs, toast, tomato salsa, wilted spinach-don't underestimate the size😂 The first egg was flowy, while the second; not so much. I guess it got cold:( (And for some reason, the yolk was really little as compared to the white? Perhaps a different range of eggs?) The avacado portion was generous, and presentation was so pretty! It was fanned out~ The toast crust was a tad too hard, but it went quite well with the other sides.
