Friday lunches are the times where you go further for good food. Impromptu decision made together with @lovelee_ruijun to go for burning oak

When we reached the store, I realized they have a new poster showcasing all the reviews they had. One entry - Wagyu Beef Bento - the picture was so familiar. Headed back down to my seat and scrolled through my instagram / burpple and realized hey! That review was by me! Haha, what a pleasant surprise, friend and I was having a good laugh out of it. Ok back to the food

Decided to try this new thing on their menu. The beef this time was charred less than my previous visit, I would like it charred slightly more for that smoky salty taste. And the foie gras was huge! It was very moist and tasty but too much for my liking, got a little overwhelmed towards the end. My suggestion - less foie gras more beef! Oh, and they certainly increased their rice portion so I didn't have to add rice anymore

Should I get the salmon? The tuna? Scallop!? Finally opted for the kaisen..it came with 4 succulent pieces of hokkaido scallop which was perfectly seared.. Maintaining both moisture and texture :)..this is definitely the best part of the dish..the mussels were fresh and sweet but that's it.. Would be awesome if it's baked with garlic but I'm just asking for too much :p.. The lemon butter sauce though was really good! Wish they would give me more :(..mushrooms were mehh.. We're just glad to be out of the heat.

Honestly, this chirashi can never live up to my love at teppei.. And the portion is small as well.. But hey we got free appetizers and ice cream as well :)..at least the wasabi was yummy.. Hehe

But I always give food a second chance (not people! Kidding :p).. This was surprisingly quite good..the noodles were very flavourful and doesn't clump together. The teriyaki chicken wasn't too sweet as well :) Not on my must eat list, but definitely don't mind having this for lunch :) Food 3.5/5

I've been having a lot of rice bowls lately.. Especially my chirashi bowls..anyway decided to heed my colleague's suggestion and get this for lunch..
It was pretty crowded when we got there close to 1pm but luckily we still got a seat :)..
The portion of tuna and salmon was really generous! I finished my rice much before my fish..it was fresh and chewy as well :D
The miso soup however was weird.. A hint of bitter.. Not my favourite chirashi, but don't mind going back for more :D

Couldn't resist this.. Look at those juicy salmon roe! Yums..and those yummy pieces of salmon and tuna.. This is really something to die for.

However I still prefer the one I had in the tanjong pagar branch.. Even though the salmon here is better (I think my previous visit was just a bad day), the flavours, the tuna, the swordfish and the wasabi is better in the TP branch.. The process of getting the tables and placing our orders is utterly confusing. 1st, you get a table (ask for help) then only you go and place your order at the counter.

The ramen itself was something different, never had dry ones before. I would definitely recommend this for truffle fanatics. For me, I'd return for seconds but I don't think I'll crave for this.
The chashu was really dry and unappetising but heck.. I'm hungry.. Egg is normal. They were quite generous with the truffle though.. I could definitely have another portion of ramen with the truffle.

Put off tanuki raw for quite some time as I've read some negative reviews but turns out they were wrong.. Happy with my rice bowl.. The short ribs were very tasty and chewy. And the foie gras.. Generous portion :) Service was prompt and excellent.
The only thing I didn't like was the rice, too dry, hard and not flavourful enough.
Still, this is super value for money as its $19.90 ++ for lunch!
