Once you have a bite, you can never stop. NEVER! Really. A must have whenever you're here!
This hole-in-a-wall zi char stall on the second floor of Sim Lim Square is a popular lunch spot for students and office workers in the area. Despite being probably the best salted egg chicken rice dish out there, it doesn't get much coverage on social media. That's good for you, because you don't have to fight the crowds to order their signature Salted Egg Chicken Rice ($5). While you might be tempted to go with the pork, this is the one place you should opt for chicken β it is far more tender and soaks up the salted egg sauce very well. Burpple Tastemaker Xing Wei Chua loves how the dish is served in a mini metal wok, "drenched in a creamy flavourful sauce, and that the chicken chunks are completely covered with salted egg goodness". Complete your meal with an addition of a runny sunny-side up egg ($0.50). There are two adjacent stalls solely dedicated for seating, but to secure a seat fast, we recommend coming in a small party β some to reserve the seats while the others order.
Avg Price: $10 per person

Another attempt on exotic ice cream flavour which turns out to be a delightful experience for the white chocolate seaweed. Like eating seaweed flavor potato chips with bits of chocolate and nuts. The graffiti totally potrayed my feeling. π
Salted Egg Chicken ($6)
This is a secret find I contemplated posting about. Such a rare gem at East Village! So good was the Salted Egg Chicken I found nothing to criticize about it. The chicken cubes were fried till golden brown perfection and gently tossed in salted yolk paste. I can taste the crunchy crust, juicy chicken and savoury salted egg all in 1 bite π! Eaten with the accompanying onion slices elevated the dish further. At $6 for such a huge portion, I fear that it is only a matter of time before this place gets packed.
Yangzhou Fried Rice Restaurant is only 2 months old but its food packs the wok hei of an old-timer tze char stall. Also in picture is the flavourful Yangzhou Fried Rice ($3) π and Yu Xiang Brinjaj π. This place serves truely honest and good food at exceptional prices!
Located amongst the car work shop, you'll notice its pure white shop front with full glass window. Spacious cafe, the tables are widely spaced so you'll have your own private space. Uncluttered and simple design.
Dropped in for a drink and takeaway 2 of the signature bao. Salted Egg Chicken and BBQ Pull Pork. Yums! There's other signatures which includes Pork Belly, Chili Crab, Salted Egg Shrimp and etc.
Would love to be back to try their rice bowl as one of it spells MENTAIKO!
More dense than expected, the cake's texture does remind me of a Black Sesame chiffon cake but the salted egg custard between the layers made it really unique and distinct. I love the fragrance from the two elements and the added crunch from the salted egg crumbles on the sesame cream at the top!
Located at B2 of Westgate, you get to enjoy wings with the choice of 2 dips out of the following 4:
- Laksa
- Creamy Garlic
- Salted Egg Yolk
- Dill
And my favourite here is Laksa dip of cos! Never thought of it? Neither did i.

More known for their waffles, this place serves pasta and mains as well. Their tomyum pasta is recommended.

Thanks @griddysg for having us and the ever hot-babe @dianaaatan for the invite!
6 pieces, Salted Egg York Sauce & Sour Cream Dill Sauce ($5.90) - Tender chicken n great sauce.
Look at that shade of golden brown. Keng Eng Kee is always so crowded and for good reason, dishing out really good Cze Char dishes. Someone say Wok Hei.
Although Salted Egg dishes viral everywhere in here. Look like the Chef make a good perfection on their salted egg crab. The Stall Owner insisted of using SRI Lanka Crab. Advanced Order is required to avoid disappointment. Tel Phone Number 62721038.
Pork ribs coated with salted egg yolk that failed to impress. Although each piece of pork rib was coated with the right amount of salted egg yolk, the proportion of fats to meat per pork rib was 2:1. Felt "jerlat" after my second piece.
Shall stick to their claypot mee tai mak. #π·πιΉΉθ
