[Halal] I didn't know what I was expecting with this, but I was pleasantly surprised - mostly by how accurately replicated the blackcurrant tanginess in the magenta sauce. It was a little too thin and watery, if I must be honest.

Ironically enough, despite the chicken looking browned and well-seasoned, I didn't find it to be sapid at all. I was hoping for a more kick. But that's fine because the white meat soaked up that zingy sauce so easily. The flavours meshed surprisingly well.

In short, this dish to some extent exhibited the beauty of the algorithm of flavour fusion. I quite liked it. (7/10)

Finally get to have lunch here. Tried their signature dish, Fish & Chips. Very generous with the fries. The size of the fish is a bit big but the batter is very nice. Tastes different and original compared to other places that I've tried.

Gather the ladies in your life for good-for-the-skin hotpot ($25 per person, minimum two diners) in town. Tsukada Nojo takes pride in their collagen-rich stock, made by stewing organic Jidori chicken bones for over eight hours until they dissolve to form a silky collagen pudding β€” this is what servers will bring to the table to heat in the pot. The pudding will melt into a nourishing soup, in which you can then cook your tray of of organic vegetables, seafood and tender chicken meat. On top of that, you get a choice of noodles and porridge β€” we highly recommend going with their signature thick and chewy mochi mochi noodles! Pro-tip: There are also outlets in Liang Court, Westgate and Chinatown Point. To skip the queue, you can make reservations only for the Chinatown Point outlet.

This hole-in-a-wall zi char stall on the second floor of Sim Lim Square is a popular lunch spot for students and office workers in the area. Despite being probably the best salted egg chicken rice dish out there, it doesn't get much coverage on social media. That's good for you, because you don't have to fight the crowds to order their signature Salted Egg Chicken Rice ($5). While you might be tempted to go with the pork, this is the one place you should opt for chicken β€” it is far more tender and soaks up the salted egg sauce very well. Burpple Tastemaker Xing Wei Chua loves how the dish is served in a mini metal wok, "drenched in a creamy flavourful sauce, and that the chicken chunks are completely covered with salted egg goodness". Complete your meal with an addition of a runny sunny-side up egg ($0.50). There are two adjacent stalls solely dedicated for seating, but to secure a seat fast, we recommend coming in a small party β€” some to reserve the seats while the others order.

While the latter makes #eatingclean cool, its alter ego is all about striking a balance by offering both "Eat Clean" and "Indulge Dirty" menus. What a genius way to satisfy everyone at the table.

Here's the ultimate dirty dish, Fried Chicken Skin ($8), which, hands down, was my favourite of the 12 dishes we had. Rubbed and fried with a southern spice mix, the crisp chicken skin was light and crazily addictive, perfect with beer (do check out the interesting selection of craft beers & ciders here). Highly recommended.

Awesome spicy hotplate of chicken topped with tteokbokki rice cakes, sweet potatoes, onions and cheese! Looks amazing, tasted amazing!

Their garlicky chicken was highly recommended by both of my friends and colleagues. So i got to try it!! I love Chir Chir for its variety. No matter what you like, fried, sauced, creamy or baked, you have plenty of choices here! Beside chicken dishes, menu also includes salads, cheese fries, soup and drinks! The price is very reasonable, with chicken dishes priced around $30, which are good for two.

They are expanding much quicker thab its competitors. Now with branches at Bedok, Chinatown and Jurong East.

Tip: Option to mix 2 flavours if you are ordering the whole chicken.

fret not, there's @chirchirsg in Chinatown point that opens till 3am daily. Perfect if you're out and about Chinatown doing last minute CNY shopping

Don't mind me as I put a wet blanket over their famous Nest SnowΒ ($32.90) which had infested my instagram feed for months with images of golden brown chicken tenders sitting over a bed of cream sauce. Like a moth to a flame, I was drawn to the arresting visuals of golden brown topped with fresh whipped cream and shavings of Parmesan, mozzarella and cheddar; however, it all fell to pot when I realise that these spicy Cajun chicken tenders were incredibly unpalatable. It's mucked up dry innards, insubordinate with the hot plate of cheesy cream sauce below. A pool that resembled something similar to canned cream of chicken soup, unstirred. Yikes

Finally got to try the pancakes, black and white layer cake (not pictured) and of course, the chicken and waffle! Delicious food and good service. If anything, would have wanted a bit more crisp in the waffles :) portions are huge, so share the love! Promotion with mysamsung app ends 15th jan #BurppleXChope

Black is indeed beautiful when it comes in the form of "Chicken Buah Keluak" from "Charlie's Peranakan".
The flesh of each midnight-coloured nut has been scraped out, and mixed with minced pork before being stuffed back into the shell. This laborious task takes the edge off the nut's subtle bitterness, and boosts sweetness and a fuller mouthfeel when you eat.
The gravy here is also damn shiok as it's much thicker and richer from the generous amount of nut flesh used in the cooking.

Salted Egg Chicken ($6)

This is a secret find I contemplated posting about. Such a rare gem at East Village! So good was the Salted Egg Chicken I found nothing to criticize about it. The chicken cubes were fried till golden brown perfection and gently tossed in salted yolk paste. I can taste the crunchy crust, juicy chicken and savoury salted egg all in 1 bite 😁! Eaten with the accompanying onion slices elevated the dish further. At $6 for such a huge portion, I fear that it is only a matter of time before this place gets packed.

Yangzhou Fried Rice Restaurant is only 2 months old but its food packs the wok hei of an old-timer tze char stall. Also in picture is the flavourful Yangzhou Fried Rice ($3) 😍 and Yu Xiang Brinjaj πŸ†. This place serves truely honest and good food at exceptional prices!

Bliss Restaurant is not just another Western restaurant. It's an encapsulation of what a social enterprise in Singapore ought to be β€” providing employment opportunities to all without discrimination, donating groceries to the needy through Aljunied GRC and even reducing its own carbon footprint by using biodegradable disposal corn ware for catering services, all while dishing out tasty and very cost efficient food. Located within the grounds of Cheng San Community Club, Bliss Restaurant serves a variety of Western grub mostly under $20 β€” perfect for cash-strapped days! Start with the Skinful Chicken ($6) β€” thin slices of crackly, crispy chicken skin that you won't be able to stop snacking on once you start popping them into your mouth. For mains, order the crowd favourite Smoked Duck Aglio Olio ($14) and the Gratin Sirloin Steak ($17) β€” the latter comes with baby potatoes on the side and a slice of gooey, melted cheddar cheese blanketing the meat.
