Largely known for their "char siew", which is the sexy dark-coloured type, Foong Kee on Keong Saik Road also does a "sio bak" just the way I like it - salty and with a crackling of resoundingly loud crunch.
Their wantons get the thumbs-up from me as well because the filling in them has that traditional taste which is getting increasingly hard to find these days.

้‡‘็“œ่™พ a.k.a. Pumpkin Sauce with Butter Prawns. Seems pricey at S$12 for 4 balls, but each prawn's actually pretty big. Crunchy, juicy and fresh too. The prawns are coated in a light and thin batter, tasty and surprisingly not at all oily. The pumpkin sauce though: that was the bomb. It's creamy and luscious, yet retaining a tad of the characteristic sandy mouthfeel root veggies have; sweet yet still slightly savoury, with a tinge of curry spice. I don't care what else you order, but if you visit please please please don't leave this out.

Not the best of course, but at S$18 I'm not complaining. There's a lot of meat for the price, and the skin's got a good crisp. Only thing is the meat was dry, and certain parts had a strong porky taste. The accompanying chili made everything better though so no problems with that.

this fish head steamboat is affordable and yummy in the heartland of angmokio. ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿ™‹

Their stir fried bee Hoon and fish head steamboat were above average.
Wok Hei found in the bee Hoon and squeeze of lime multiplied its tastiness.
The fish head broth had a hint of Chinese herb and spices which made its sweetness pretty unique. Remember to remove the fish earlier from the hot pot to prevent them from overcooking.

Oh glorious glorious hand pulled mee hoon kway tossed in chilli, black sauce and a mixture of ingredients like minced pork, vegetables and prawn. A simple but very satisfying bowl. The chilli wasn't too spicy but still gave a nice elevation of flavour to the black sauce. I've always loved hand pulled kway and this was perfectly done. Top up 50 cents for extra ikan bilis. Prepare to wait if you join in the queue with the lunch crowd.

I half expected the rice in the middle of the mini pot to be tasteless, so it was such a pleasant surprise to find black sauce mixed in so thoroughly. The layer of salted egg and juices from the steamed pork patty added a nice savory touch amidst the sweetness.

This stall serves many other types of claypot rice, steamed rice and stewed soups. It's one of my to-go stalls for lunch these days! The super friendly Aunty would love to share with you the health benefits of each soup and give you recommendations according to your preference!
