hawker food
The ingredients are also made on the spot in a traditional way (with mental tool resembling a bamboo pole) and they're different from the usual- you get meat, tofu, black fungus and chestnut all in one ingredient!! "Very cheap and nice!", the taxi driver said about this place. If there's one thing I've learnt, it's that the true hawker foodies in Singapore are taxi drivers and indeed, the curry rice didn't fail us. Generous servings of curry and ingredients at a ridiculously low price. I ordered a vegetable and two meat side dishes at only $3.60. The selection of side dishes would appeal to the more carnivorous crowd as the store offers a wider selection of meaty sides. Curry rice always makes a very hearty meal (:
Indulgent, with all the right reasons. Think - crispy thin pork chop, mushy stewed cabbage, blanched eggplant together with a huge scoop of Lemak curry. MORE PLEASE!!!!
The spice and flavor packs a strong punch. Brings me back to the good times I had with my brothers in Bangkok before the university days. The street food, Chang beers & laughter makes it all worth it. Reminds me that we're always at the right place and time. Enjoy your journey! #hawkerpedia
To me, the best roast duck and char siew rice at ABC market. Get it, quick.
If you want to have really awesome noodles (& sauce) and cardboard like char siew, go to Kok Kee. But if you want to have really good noodles and char siew, you should come here! Get the $5 option if you're really hungry.
This is one of the best rice I've eaten. I stumbled upon this store who interestingly hung a row of chicken head and spines up for parade. Ordered the $3.50 large option and boy I was impressed. The rice was so fragrant and delicious, yet it remains fluffy and not dragged down the oil. I had to finish every grain of rice. Chicken was tender and had good amount of skin to it. Left very satisfied and will definitely come again.
Dining with a small group of friends? Plan your next catch up at YangZhou Fried Rice Restaurant. Located within East Village (next to WatSub), this cosy Chinese restaurant offers generous portions of zi char dishes at pocket-friendly prices β perfect for sharing! Fill your table with the flavourful Yangzhou Fried Rice ($3) that will easily feed two, crispy Salted Egg Chicken ($6) and Yu Xiang Brinjal ($5) in spicy garlic sauce. You'll walk out stuffed, happy and with barely a dent in your pocket.

Set in Burlington Square, this air-conditioned food court is known for its Northern Thai Tom Yum Soup from the fish soup stall. The broth is spicy, sour and extremely punchy β definitely not one for the faint-hearted! For the best experience, go for the mixed fish soup ($5.40), which comes with a combination of fresh and deep-fried fish pieces. To make it more substantial, pick one of nine noodle choices to add on ($0.50-$1.10, options include ban mian, mee hoon kueh and instant noodles) and don't hesitate to order the crispy fried egg ($1) on the side β it's crisp and super yummy! Pro-tip: Bookmark this spot for lunch. The stall opens from 10:30am and operations wind down by 3pm. It's a mad rush here at lunchtime, so come before noon to beat the crowd.

One of the best satay which I tried at this moment.
So so so good! $4 for a steaming hot bowl of rice vermicelli + generous portions of ζ - fave being a really awesome mushroom and pork ball, and springy prawn balls (that I watched the auntie skillfully mash by hand!!) Even the bittergourd (which I don't normally eat) with fish paste was delicious. Soup is really clean tasting and light. Omg mind blown officially officially a favorite.
One of the best satay which I tried at this moment.
