Healthy Things (maybe)
This was surprisingly good! The piece of salmon was quite large and prepared very nicely. Also, the spaghetti actually tasted like laksa. I was quite impressed.
A tasty blend of super tasty & frosty acai, housemade banana nice cream, granola and protein powder. A perfect post-class snack!
A modest bowl with a surprisingly tasty poké topping! Choose sushi rice, red/brown rice or salad as your poke bowl base - I went with a mix of both sushi & red/brown rice. Makai has a variety of seasoned salmon, tuna and tofu on their permanent menu but I went with a seasonal special of seared shoyu scallops + ikura (at no extra cost) which was nicely seasoned and delightfully salty. All this comes with an assortment of vegetables and a little scoop of guacamole (what?). Definitely worth the price.
A bit of a sad looking poke bowl in my opinion. I got the salad as a base and an extra portion of prawn roe ($1). The fish was quite nicely seasoned, but aside from the leaves and cherry tomatoes - there wasn't much else to this poke bowl. So, it was just ok, decent enough for the price.
A base of banana, blackberry, raspberry and soy milk topped with blueberries, pomegranate jewels, quinoa puffs and cashews.
This gives you a nice refreshing buzz because it's quite tangy - but maca nutter still remains my fave.
A heap of sweet cherry tomatoes, cucumber, peppers, olives and overloaded atop with crumbly feta and generous lashings of extra virgin olive oil. This refreshing salad goes down very nicely as a side between 2 people (or a main). Did I mention the load of feta?
I didn't know you could just walk into Evolve for their juice bar to get your hands on their acai granola bowl. This super value for money treat gives you a huge serving of frosty frozen acai and topped with honey and granola - and a side of banana. Simple, but delicious.
The Acai tasted really good but was wondering why it was melty so soon after serving. Turns out this is because the Acai is blended with guarana, apples, banana and coconut water. Served with fruit and a bunch of toppings like honey granola, pumpkin seeds and coconut flakes. A little bit on the expensive side - considering the size of the bowl is not particularly impressive. But it did taste good.
Preferred this over the cacaoholic smoothie bowl that I had the last time. The banana base was topped with cashews and chocolate. Somehow this was lighter and the pomegranate jewels gave it a nice tart crunch.
Made up of a base of banana, cacao and soy milk and topped with dark chocolate drizzle, cacao nibs, blueberries and quinoa puffs for crunchies. As a combination it was nice, a good mixture of textures and not too sweet. This was a refreshing post-workout treat but was a bit much for one person. The base of the smoothie bowl was quite thick and sticky because of the banana which made it very, very filling. So, unless you're really hungry you'd probably want to share this.
This bowl includes Norwegian smoked salmon, a baked egg, edamame, quinoa, tomatoes and romaine, as well as a choice of dressing. I thought this was only ok, the ingredients were fresh enough but not spectacular. I liked that it included slices of lemon, but there was no feta in it as was mentioned in the menu. 🤷🏻♀️ A boiled egg (instead of the baked) would probably have kept better seeing as these bowls are pre-prepped and then refrigerated.
What I did like was that there was quite a generous portion of smoked salmon - which was what made me order it over an acai bowl.
I also got the green goddess juice ($5.50/6.50) - a blend of greens, celery, apple, cucumber and lemon. Just what I needed on a sweltering hot day.
Built my own bowl ($16) and chose a base of super greens (they also have soba, quinoa, various rices) and the seared marinated tuna for my 1 x protein. For veggies you can either get 2 hot ones or 1 x hot + 2 x cold - I went with 2 x hot: buttery sautéed wild mushrooms and (char)grilled furikake baby corn. I topped it off with (more) furikake and got a side of miso caramel dressing. So good! If you can't decide, they also have suggested signature bowls that you can just point at and choose.
I usually frequent the GT at Capita Green but space at 100 AM is really cool - with communal tables and a large island for their coffee bar. Unfortunately, the coffee bar wasn't open - I totally rate their cold brews.

I think there are very few things that a bowl of soup cannot fix. That, or gin.
