Although the sugar level isnโ€™t customizable as the iced matcha latte are premixed, the characteristic earthy note was still distinct and lingering, with a subtle sweetness. Hardcore matchaholics might find this a little sweet and weak for their liking but it should very match-a suffice for typical, neutral consumers ๐Ÿ’š.

โœจ Unfortunately yesterday was the last day for the promotion but hopefully there would be other upcoming promotions yea? XD A few of the popular flavours include pistachio (top seller), hazelnut, coconut, fruit based ones eg lemon & basil, strawberry - as mentioned by the staff but being a hardcore matchaholic, I can never say NO when thereโ€™s matcha flavour displayed right in front of my sight ๐Ÿ˜…. Whatโ€™s more, with this great deal, I decided to get 2 cups for myself too! Thank god thereโ€™s no such limit of 1 cup/ customer ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป! The gelato here are freshly churned with a thick, smooth creamy texture that I adore totally. The matcha flavour was surprisingly distinct, with a subtle lingering characteristic earthy bitter undertone. On the other hand, the hazelnut was one that surprisingly got me hooked on, with a lingering nutty, roasted flavour that was fragrant! โœจ One cup is definitely not enough for me and I was glad to have gotten 2! However if given the choice I would certainly not mind forgoing my diet plans and ordering more ๐Ÿ™ˆ. Looking forward to try their other flavours as well as waffles next time! ๐Ÿ˜‹ .

Though prices are pretty steep, hardcore matchaholics would be glad to know that quality is definitely not compromised here, with top grade of Matcha used - as the name suggests as well ๐Ÿ˜…. True enough, the intense umami and earthy flavour was a lingering one that possessed a characteristic bitter undertone, one that might be an acquired experience for some. As a hardcore matchaholic, I truly appreciate the robust earthy umami flavour that packs a punch! ๐Ÿ’š The texture was also creamy and thick, retaining its semi-solid shape well and long enough for my shots๐Ÿ“ธ. โ€œHurry and eat it before it melts!โ€ exclaimed the crew (whom I assumed is the owner) who witnessed me spending a long time in taking photos ๐Ÿ™ˆ. Despite that the softserve was really obedient and allowed me to slowly savour and relish it in its semi-solid state. Half cup was definitely no kick for me, perhaps I would opt for the full serving for myself next time ๐Ÿ˜œ . Hopefully houjicha can replace the current Nishio matcha softserve for a twist ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป. (PS: sorry for the spam, was really indecisive on the ideal picture and hence I decided to just unleash my Matcha obsession ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ˜‚) .

Thanks so match-a @shotsandscoopssg for the heads up and I m glad I managed to satisfy my cravings from my previous failed visit ๐Ÿ˜…. And much to my pleasant surprise, thereโ€™s also a new ice cream flavour- HOUJICHA! ๐Ÿ’› Matcha ice cream was also churned on that very same day but still undergoing fine-tuning and hence not available for sale at the moment. No doubt houjicha was my pick for the flavours, along with raspberry lychee rose for a refreshing (and colour) contrast. The ice cream are all homemade, freshly churned with a smooth, creamy consistency and a pleasant melt-in-the mouth texture. The houjicha ice cream managed to meet up to my expectations, with a distinctive and lingering roasted flavour and aroma that I totally adore. Intensity was spot on, though of course as a hardcore houjicha fan, I would certainly not mind a stronger roasted flavour. On the other hand, the raspberry lychee rose was tangy, a sweet fruity note coupled with a subtle floral aroma. On the downside, the matcha waffle had barely any hint of the characteristic earthy flavour, despite the promising green hues in the batter (swipe to the end to view). However, the texture was an ideal one that was consistent (judging from my previous try on their buttermilk waffle), with a crisp exterior and a soft, fluffy interior that carried a lingering buttery fragrance of batter. Looking forward to try the matcha ice cream next time, which I believe would be more prominent in flavour as compared to the waffles! .

Intricately layered, every element was a significant contributor to the visuals and of course, palate if you are a matchaholic! The matcha ice cream was smooth, creamy with a distinctive flavour and a lingering jasmine-like floral fragrance. Though it lacks the characteristic bitter undertone that I would have adore, the sweetness was just right without being too milky. The matcha cake was soft, fluffy and cotton-like, with the matcha cream adding a mandatory moisture thatโ€™s smooth and light. Coupled with a pleasant crunch factor from the matcha granola, I was pleasantly surprised by its significant appearance, being a fan of this brand that I would always purchase it in bulk from the commercial stores. The granola also came with dried strawberries as well as fresh strawberries that added a tangy note, a slight acidity as a counterbalance to the other sweeter elements. Lastly, the matcha and yuzu jelly nestled comfortably at the base were soft, wobbly, without much distinct flavours though. IMO it would have been a better option having the ice cream present in separate layers for the parfait ie. both at the top and base or in the middle otherwise boredom might start kicking in once itโ€™s gone from the start.

My third time here for this but this time trying out the chiffon cake. A matcha cream filled chiffon cake that's topped with Azuki beans, the vanilla sponge was soft, fluffy and cotton-like, with a smooth, creamy matcha filling that could have been more distinct in flavour. Or perhaps it's overshadowed by its strong competitor - the softserve. Having tried the flavours in silo prior to this, I personally preferred the twist with the combination of an earthy umami flavour of uji matcha coupled and a lingering aromatic roasted flavour combined into one, a true matchmake in heaven ๐Ÿ’–. The uji matcha softserve came drizzled with a thick, deep dark green matcha sauce (which was absent during my first try) that enhanced and boosted the earthy factor. (PS: last chance to get this is on 4 October! Hurry and head down now to the ongoing Takashimaya fair before this annual affair ends!) Btw, there was already a queue forming on a Sunday noon ๐Ÿ™ˆ.

Adorned with an exterior of peanut butter cream laid a thick single layer of matcha pound cake that's also sprinkled with some crushed nuts and matcha powder. Best to consume it at room temperature IMO, otherwise the cake might be too dry and the cream is also solid-firm. The matcha cake is fluffy and sufficiently moist (under ambient conditions) with a subtle albeit fragrant earthy note of matcha flavour. The peanut butter cream is smooth, light with a characteristic nutty flavour that was lingering. Always loving the vegan bakes here that helps me to satisfy my sweet tooth cravings guilt-lessly .

Last weekend to lay your hands on the Houjicha softserve (last day of fair: 4 oct)! The characteristic roasted flavour and aroma was distinct, lingering but as a hardcore fan of teas (esp matcha & houjicha), I would personally prefer if there was a little bitter undertone to it. The intensity of the tea flavour pales in comparison to their uji matcha flavour that came with an earthy bitter undertone - only for the hardcore matchaholics! Nevertheless, it was still enjoyable with a lingering earthy and roasted aroma, along with the smooth and creamy texture. Option to have it on a chiffon cake (with azuki beans and matcha cream filling) or in a cone at the same price which I opt for the latter to fully savour the true, pronounced flavour first. Perhaps a twist next time on their chiffon cake? ๐Ÿค” AND YES, it will definitely be this weekend! An annual affair that I wouldn't mind splurging on, given my fetish for matcha as well as the justifiable quality for the price paid for! Besides softserve, there's also uji matcha beverages (unsweetened/sweetened) that's freshly prepared and whisk on the spot as well as roll cakes, nama chocolates, matcha jelly and Mont Blanc! Indeed this is so match-a paradise for all matchaholics! ๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿ’šThere's also an option of having a matcha cream filled chiffon cake along with the softserve at the same price. However, I decided to go for purely the softserve to fully savour and appreciate the earthy umami flavour of uji matcha. Only for the hardcore matchaholics- this softserve bears an intense, robust earthy note that is coupled with a characteristic lingering bitter undertone. Texture is smooth albeit a little icy. Psst: There's also houjicha flavour too but a pity that's only available during weekends!

Thanks @matchayasg for kindly accommodating to my request at no additional cost โ˜บ๏ธ. Mystery flavour that's available for now would be kinako kuromitsu (till 17 sept). The ice blended beverage had a distinctive, roasted flavour and lingering aroma of kinako, with kuromitsu syrup blending in harmoniously with its pleasant tinge of natural sweetness. On the downside, I didn't quite enjoy the texture of the beverage that consisted of shards of ice crystals, resulting in a coarse and gritty mouthfeel to a supposedly thick, creamy beverage. Nevertheless, the softserve compensated for my slight disappointment, being as enjoyable and awesome as always! ๐Ÿ’š The kinako kuromitsu softserve leaned towards a sweeter profile, with a subtle roasted flavour whereas the matcha, as usual, bears a characteristic earthy note and a bitter undertone .

Though it's stated yuzu, the cake itself is a green tea flavoured one, with yuzu peels and chocolate chips embedded within. Best eaten hot, with a soft and pillowy texture! The green tea flavour was pretty mild here, with the yuzu stealing the limelight with its citrusy, tangy flavour. Made with no oil and less sugar, this might be the reason for its slightly denser texture that could be a little dry for some. Great for the health and weight conscious and of course, for those without a fetish for desserts as this was pretty bland and healthy-tasting to me ๐Ÿ˜…. If green tea/yuzu aren't your kind of thing, there's also a cocoa flavoured steam cake with chestnuts embedded within .

Adorned with a matcha white chocolate shell coating, alternating squares of green tea and dark chocolate sponge are layered with buttercream, creating a visually appealing and unique checkered design. The texture of the sponge cake was soft, fluffy and cotton-like. Though the flavours of each component aren't distinctive, the texture won hands down, spongy and light that's complemented with substantial smooth butter cream, making it a perfect and sweet afternoon treat that's not too overwhelming or gelat. The exterior of matcha white chocolate coating was what I fancy most here, creamy and thick, luscious, milky with a subtle albeit distinctive earthy note that greatly resembled flavours of the green tea KitKat- a snack that I love and always indulge in. (PS: Only available till end October, hence do try it before it's off the shelves!) .
