Ooey gooey deliciousness! The matcha lava oozed out at the slightest touch, and was of just the right consistency and sweetness (though I wish they could’ve been more generous with it!). Found the cookie a little too sweet for my liking though.
For ice creams, we picked earl grey and lemon curd to go with our cookies, both of which were creamy and hit the spot taste-wise.
Got two of these sets (comes with a drink each) with Burpple Beyond, which amounted to $14.30 only!
Look at this beauty! Though on the pricey side, but the generous portion makes up for it. Soft, smooth and creamy. Would’ve preferred the matcha notes to be a bit more pronounced, but nonetheless a sweet treat I would go back for if I’m around the area.
We were anticipating the arrival of the sweet potato waffles, but unfortunately it didn’t deliver. Super dense and overly chewy, it gave our jaws a thorough workout. The ice creams here weren’t much to shout about as well — the Pistachio was flavourful but a little watered down, while the Black Hawaii (charcoal and coconut) tasted a little strange to me (could be my personal preference, since I don’t really respond well to coconuty flavours). Hopefully they’ll adjust the quality of their offerings, since they’re new.
Creamy, smooth with strong tea notes. Just the kind of dessert you’d want after a satisfying meal (at Maru, no less) to end the afternoon on a high. Owner Kevin was at the storefront, and was very helpful in recommending what to get as well!
Newly opened in Icon Village, this hole-in-a-wall joint serves up an assortment of scrambled egg burgers. Every component of this burger was solid — eggs were creamy and done just right, brioche buns were toasted to golden brown perfection, avocado was ripe, cheese was grilled to a distinct smokiness, and it also helped that there was that tangy lemon sauce to cut through all that creaminess. Delish.
Smooth and creamy, the way this melts in your mouth is luxurious. Had solely the matcha flavour before, and felt that it was slightly too bitter on its own, but having it mixed with Kumamoto (Japanese purple sweet potato) is a winner as the natural sweetness of the sweet potato balances out and complements the strong matcha tea notes.
Creamy and slightly savoury cream cheese, thick enough to withstand dissolving into the fragrant oolong tea at the bottom, yet without being overly cloying. Genius, and extremely delish. Would come back again for this. Pro tip: do not stir this with a straw, and trust this joint’s pre-concocted sugar level of their foam teas, as I usually ask for less sugar in my bbts, but I didn’t this time and the sweetness level of the oolong complemented the cheese foam to the t(ea).
Now I understand the hype about this place — the ingredients used here are extremely fresh, and do not scrimp on quality at all. Hands down best foam bbtea drink I’ve had here in sg.
Pardon me for sounding like a lunatic, but my heart was beating in accordance to the way these fluffy, airy and texturally divine soufflé pancakes jiggled away. And it was pounding very, very hard indeed. Every bite felt like a stroll in the clouds, and despite my full capacity from dinner earlier on, I was actually attending to the idea of getting another plate all for myself after whittling this down (sadly, I underestimated myself and shared this).
I cannot stress how much this is a MUST-GET here, and it’s really a shame (!!!) if you make a trip all the way to habitat without returning with these babies nestled in your digestive tract.
Soft, pillowy, spongey, airy — this is the only form of donut I will ever appreciate (besides Haritts’ rendition as well) vis-a-vis the commonly found fried, doughy and sugary version. So light and fluffy without compromising on flavour, yum!
Not my first time trying the swiss rolls here, but definitely as good as I remember them to be. The airy and fluffy creams were delicately blanketed in the embraces of their light and spongey cakes, and complemented each other really well. Tea notes were distinct, which is a commendable feat, given how texturally and palatably light these swiss rolls are. Great chill spot for an afternoon respite.
If you like potent tea flavours, this one’s for you! Smooth and creamy without melting quickly, I actually enjoyed the houjicha more than the matcha here, as I’m a sucker for roasted aftertastes.
Though they may be slightly pricey, we enjoyed the drinks very much! Milky with hints of strong tea notes, both of the lattes offered a rounded, bittersweet balance. Heads up, they also offer 1-for-1 drinks on #BurppleBeyond, so you can actually get two of these for just $6.50! Why the heck not?!
