Nasi lemak in Malaysia tastes so much better than the ones we get in Singapore. Getting the sambal right is the key. It has to be spicy with lots of oomph and most definitely should not be sweet.

In Malaysia, we typically select coffee shops where both the food and drinks are good. This coffee shop definitely fits the bill in Subang.

The curry noodles was a cross between the Ipoh curry mee and the Singapore curry chicken noodles, both of which I like very much. Needless to say I enjoyed this!

The char kuay teow in KL may not be as good as the ones in Penang but it was still way better than those in Singapore. Savoury (not sweet) with plenty of wok hei!

It was my first time having bitter gourd, deep fried South Indian style. The spices somehow neutralised the bitterness but in a good way.

Breakfast in Malaysia would not be complete without local coffee. Not as good as Ipoh white coffee but still yummy enough to order again!

A fairly new addition to the many streetfood stalls which were handpicked by Tan Sri Francis Yeoh to be housed at Hutong. I love visiting Hutong as you can enjoy all these famous stalls in the comfort of air conditioning 😊.

Wong Wok was highly recommended by @blueskiescottonclouds but I was so full after my rather heavy breakfast at the New Imbi Market that I only had space for one dish. The more popular chilli crab, fried crab beehoon or sang har sang mee were too large and definitely out of the question. So we decided on the stir fried beef hor fun. It had plenty of wok hei even after being covered with the oh-so-yummy gravy. Yet the strips of beef were still soft and tender.

We will have to come back for a proper meal in future 😊.

It was the best beef noodles in town then. I am not sure whether it is still the best but the bowl I had still tasted Super delicious. There was something about the minced beef gravy which gave the noodles that yummy flavour.

I would normally only order the beef balls but I thought I'd try a mix of tripe, beef slices and beef balls. Bad idea - the tripe was a little stinky. Just stick to the beef balls! They were very smooth and extremely tasty.

If you are eating at the main Medan Selera (food court), there are two things you need to be aware of.

Firstly, do not sit too far inside, it is really hot and I mean really sweaty hot. Try to find a place near the entrance to the left which is much cooler.

Secondly, you will not be able to order from tea or coffee from the famous Ah Weng Koh Hainan Coffee & Tea. Thankfully, Keng Swee Cafe, which used to be located beside Ah Weng Koh in the old Imbi market, is now located inside the main Medan Selera. The coffee is almost as good as Ah Weng Koh's. There is a lady near the stall who will even help you find seats. Superb service!

Although you may not be able to order coffee from Ah Weng Koh, you can order food from that section. We had the Sisters Crispy Popiah. Loved the crispy bits. Yummy!

My favourite in KL. Loved the soft and silky texture of the rice noodle rolls. I had it with thim cheong (sweet sauce) and chilli sauce. The thim was not too sweet and not too thick, just the right taste and consistency. Yummy!

Besides the chee cheong fun, Ah Fook is also known for its freshly made yong taufu, especially the crispy deep fried fu chuk. That and the stuffed brinjal were awesome, especially when doused with lots of curry sauce 😋.

During our last visit to ICC Pudu, coined the new Imbi Market by some, we sat at a separate section where Ah Weng Koh Hainan Tea & Coffee was located. We couldn't order from the main medan selera (food court). This time we made it a point to sit in the main area so that we could have the chee cheong fun. I'm glad it still tasted as good as before 😊.

After hearing my husband rave about it, I was dying to try it. You can imagine my delight when my in-laws offered to tar pau (pack) for us. Served with beef, brisket, peanuts and thick rice noodles, it reminded me of the one I had in Hainan some years ago. Sooo tasty!

The shop serves beef noodles during lunch and fish head curry at night. I am told that the fish head curry is pretty good too.

We had to try a new coffee shop where only the white coffee was good 😓.

I ended up eating the mini ham chim peng (Chinese donuts) which my sister-in-law bought from the Bercham market. Now those were delicious!

While I love French beans, it was not our first choice. Sin Choy Kee is one of the few restaurants which serves Pucuk Paku, a type of local fern. That was our first choice. It is difficult to find and absolutely yummy. Sin Choy Kee serves it with salted egg. You can imagine my disappointment when we were told they had no stock 😭.

We then decided to have baby French beans. Their reply was that their French beans were very small 😂. Oh well ... it was still fried well, firm to the bite and yummy.

Zi char in Ipoh is really cheap and good. We ordered 6 dishes - mantis shrimp, sting ray curry, pork ribs, tofu and 2 vegetables - for 10 people and we only paid 144 ringgit.

Most of the zi char shops make their own tofu and they are all very smooth and tasty. Usually served with a soya based sauce. Yummy!
