Checked out Pickleville at The Working Capitol (Robinson Road) β the cafe currently serves open-faced toasts (all-day breakfast available this week; lunch would be available from next week onwards) alongside coffee, smoothies and juices hidden within the lobby that isn't visible from the main road (not gonna tell you either π).
The toast is a simple treat; essentially a Ham & Cheese toast but they are really generous with the condiments here β thick slices of tender ham without any stray, fatty bits that is too difficult to chew and a substantial slice of toast that comes all crisp and fluffy. Even the cheese comes in a generous amount β incredibly stretchy and covers the entire slice of toast. It's not exactly big on flavours, but it's balanced β the ham being savoury but not too salty like how some cured meats end up. Really enjoyed how the fermented honey garlic butter binds everything together however (the sole reason why I opted for this anyway); it's pungent garlicky flavour is punchy without trying to steal the show whilst carrying a light hint of sweetness that tingles on the tongue just for that bit of contrast that I yearned for.
This is a return to form for @fred_iggy_goh who puts it all on the table. If you're in the Tanjong Pagar area, this is the place for a good burger and stout!

This one reminds me of one of those plaster pratas albeit elevated. Ok I kid. The Basak Gamja Cheese Jeon ($9.9) is in a class of its own; basically a Crispy Potato Pancake top with an Sunny Side + Parmesan Cheese! Potato + Egg + Cheese = Lethally Good Combo! Oh did I mention they close 6am in the morning!?!

Their Kimchi Cheese Omelette ($12++) was very flavourful and we also had their Honey Butter Chicken Bumbuk ($25++), which had a generous amount of fried honey butter chicken and potato wedges sitting atop an ocean of mozzarella cheese.

Word has it that the ubiquitous "ramen egg" was the brainchild of the owner's grandfather, and the Japanese after the Occupation brought it back and made it their own. Okay, back to the taste test. Everything was really agreeable with my half-Teochew tastebuds - from the soft, naturally flavourful squid (do pair it with the plum sauce), succulent fish steamed with chye buay, handmade fish cakes, braised tau pok, simmered cabbage to the legendary runny yolk braised eggs. Psst, they have another branch in Hong Lim Market that's managed by a relative.

This hawker stall at Tanjong Pagar Plaza Food Centre really deserves some recognition! Their soups are so flavourful and their pricing is really competitive. Their popular soups sell out real quickly especially when there are large office crowds patronizing them during lunch hour.
What I enjoyed best was the mushroom chicken feet. Braised chicken feet is my new found love and this one is braised till super tender and you can literally just suck the edible parts out of the bone. The mushrooms and peanuts in the stew were also so tasty that my friend who doesn't like braised peanuts can tell me that this is the only one he likesπ!
If I have to describe this one one word, it would be SPICY-till-you-cry-nonstop. Though I'm quite tolerant with spiciness, this snow squid brings to another level. No wonder the menu gave this dish 3 π₯ icon. Wonderful presentation. Good to share for 2-3 pax. .

Keisuke tori king is legit. Artery clogging soup, springy noodles and a chicken leg so giant I wouldn't be surprised if someone said it came from the Cretaceous period.
Haemul Pajeon ( seafood pancake) - a savoury pancake which consists of green onions, seafood and batter. With simple ingredients, it's definitely not easy to whip out a crisp exterior and starchy interior pancake, along with generous portions of seafood . Of course, this pancake was slightly on the pricey side but the quality is definitely worth the price!
$3.50 for these galore of fried munches, chili was awesome! Always tryna be very early or else you gonna wait awhile during the lunch crowd!
