With currently two flavours available(royal milk tea & purple potato milk), I opted for the latter, being a fan of purple sweet potato. Unfortunately, the flavour was a mild one that resembled more of taro instead, lacking the characteristic sweetness of purple potato which I was expecting. Oh well, perhaps it’s also evident from the lilac hue instead of a deep purple one. In addition, this softserve melted way too fast, within 3 seconds after I snap this first shot (swipe to view the tragedy🙈) that hindered prolonged enjoyment. Nevertheless, texture was smooth, creamy and I like how this was served on a green cone that reminded me of my favourite green tea, which unfortunately it’s just the colour playing a trick to my eyes. Perhaps royal milk tea would be a safer option to stick to...

The oneh oneh waffles comes with two pieces of pandan flavoured Belgian liege waffles, served with toasted coconut flakes and salted gula melaka sauce. A resemblance to a deconstructed version of the Peranakan kueh, the addition of the salted gula melaka sauce and toasted coconut flakes added a characteristic tinge of sweetness and a crisp, fibrous texture respectively. On the other hand, the pandan waffles had a pleasant lingering aroma, with a soft, cake-y texture that unfortunately lacks the crisp factor I would have adore. The teh peng softserve was smooth albeit slightly icy, with a subtle tea flavour that could have been more distinct. Though it wasn’t too milky nor sweet, the ‘teh’ wasn’t ‘gao’ enough and felt somewhat diluted... Less ‘peng’ (ice) please 🙏🏻😬 .

However, the main highlight here was the shaven black truffle doused atop the poached eggs, drizzled with sauce made from truffle paste and wine. The truffle flavour was distinct yet not too overwhelming, with a subtle lingering aroma. As a fan of truffles, I would personally prefer if the truffle flavour was more intense. The combination of a smooth, creamy mash potato along with a pleasant crisp texture of the deep fried potato strips was clearly a winning factor, enhanced with an earthy aroma from the truffle infused sauce. The poached eggs nestled comfortably atop the bed of creamy mash also possessed an ideal characteristic flowy vibrant yolk which oozes out mercilessly. Though it was an enjoyable dish, I personally felt the portion could have been bigger or perhaps with addition of some ingredients eg. mushrooms (always a good companion to truffles) for a more filling and all-rounded meal. On a side note, the service at the Takashimaya outlet was complimentary, one that enhanced our dining experience with a friendly and attentive service staff . [PS: Like/share their fb and insta post for a 15% off this dish till 30 April] . .

Coffee or tea? Both please 😬.
With 2 choices of flavours available for the softserve, I was glad there’s this option of having a twist - the perfect solution to my usual dilemma and spoilt-for-choice situation. With a mixture of white cold brew coffee and premium earl grey, the latter was unfortunately overshadowed by the former, with the milky coffee flavour and aroma stealing the limelight. Having tried their earl grey flavour in silo on my previous visit, I would gladly say that it’s one of the best earl grey softserves around till date, with a distinct and lingering pleasant aroma, coupled with an intense flavour. However, it failed to show off its attractiveness when placed together along with the Milky Way. Topped with shortbread crumbles and maple glazed cornflakes(which I requested for it to be omitted), I love how the crumbles provided a pleasant crisp factor while having a subtle, pleasant lingering saltiness that serves as another dimensional flavour to the smooth and slightly icy softserve. .

Having tried their matcha dirty bread before, I personally prefer this Swiss roll which had a more intense matcha flavour and fragrance. Not only will u not get dirty and unglam consuming this, the Swiss roll sponge is soft, fluffy and comes with an interior core of light, smooth and creamy matcha cream filling, as well as even more matcha goodness atop - dusting of Uji matcha powder 💚. The cream:cake ratio is well balanced, providing sufficient moisture to the fluffy roll cake and the matcha flavour was distinct albeit not too overwhelming, with a pleasant lingering earthy fragrance. Portion is rather huge though for one, hence sharing is highly recommended if you are consuming for a snack. As for me, I am always selfish when it comes to matcha and would gladly indulge in one all to myself 🙈 .

With limited quantities available daily and only available till end of April, the folks at @artichoke_sg has gladly satisfied your cravings and compensated for the disappointment in those who did not manage to lay their hands on @mcdsg’s before its gone! Though the pricetag that came along is definitely much higher, the pie here is bigger as well, with a more generous amount of fillings. The exterior was crisp and slightly flaky, encasing a substantial filling of valrhona dark chocolate, cocoa sugar and sprinkled with seasalt. The molten dark chocolate fillings, though sinful but was really worth the indulgence, especially if you a chocoholic! The luscious bittersweet cocoa flavour coupled with a thick and creamy texture was a perfect complement to the crisp chocolate pie crust that’s served warm. Best to consume it hot though for optimum enjoyment! ✨ . Let’s just say, it’s the closest alternative to Macdonald’s chocolate pie now! 🍫🥧

Opted for the rice patties as I personally felt that the Japanese curry sauce would complement rice better instead of buns. Encased between the two rice patties comes a thick slab of chicken katsu, topped with keema curry, white cabbage slaw and mayonnaise. Although the keema curry was fragrant, aromatic and flavourful with a tinge of spice, the portion could have been more generous to curb the dryness in the rice patties that kicks in gradually. Apart from the sauce, I was also pleasantly impressed with the chicken katsu that was breaded and deep fried to an ideal crisp perfection,’filled with tender, juicy minced chicken grounded into a patty (swipe to view). On the other hand, the cabbage slaw and mayonnaise seemed to be rather redundant here as I personally felt that the chicken katsu and keema curry would be suffice for a satisfying and pleasant meal. .

Happened to chance upon this temporary booth at @shokutsuten at Jurong point and hence decided to give this a try, with anything matcha as my greatest weakness. Unfortunately my impulse purchase left me with regrets ☹️. The matcha flavour was mild and barely distinct, leaning towards the milky, sweet flavour profile. Despite that major disappointment, the texture waa smooth, creamy and melt-in-the mouth though, a pleasant sensation to the palate. If you are a hardcore matchaholic (like me), I would highly recommend to skip this and head over to @hvala_sg or @matchayasg instead. But if you are neutral towards matcha, this would be a great sweet ending for your meal! 😅 [PS: Only available till end April or while stocks last!] .

With the ongoing Sakura season, @beardpapasg has just jumped onto the bandwagon, serving up Sakura cream puffs and softserve (only available at the Plaza Singapura outlet)! Though the portion was pretty tiny, it came with a pocket-friendly pricing. Good to indulge in when you are feeling pecking and craving for something sweet. Texture was smooth albeit a little icy, with only a mild and barely detectable Sakura flavour, unfortunately. The characteristic floral flavour and fragrance was lacking greatly and the flavour somehow just resembled a milk based softserve dyed in pink. The only fortunate thing was that it wasn’t overwhelming or saccharine and hence suitable as an after-meal dessert to satisfy your sweet tooth cravings .

Apart from the signature popcorn softserve which @sweetmonstersg has always been known for, the outlet at Hillion Mall also serves up Korean bingsu topped with milk softserve and cheesecake cubes as well! ✨ Prices of bingsu ranges from $5 for the original to $9.50 for the one with cheesecake. The one featured here is a peanut butter cheesecake bingsu that comes with pretzel bits, peanut butter sauce, sliced banana and strawberries atop a cup of snowflake-like korean bingsu and of course, not forgetting the signature milk softserve. The highlight to me here was the cheesecake cubes that surpassed expectations as it had a smooth and creamy texture with a luscious pleasant tinge of sweetness. Surprisingly not overwhelming and pretty additive for me! The milk softserve was also soft, smooth and creamy with a pleasant dairy flavour and aroma that wasn’t saccharine like what I had expected, and also less sweet as compared to the Jcube outlet. Coupled with fresh slices of banana and strawberries that provided a tinge of acidity to cut through the sweetness, the bingsu had a fluffy and snowflake-like texture which was enjoyable and a good companion to the other elements. Not forgetting the pretzels that provided a pleasant crispness, this is one of the cheapest bingsu that you can find around, with most places priced with at least 2 digits. And also, one that holds up to quality and quantity! Best to share it among 2 or if you have a really sweet tooth, a portion should suffice for your own indulgence .
Many thanks to @sweetmonstersg for the invite to try out the bingsu and also taking the time to present the different merchandises available. Really amazed to know that sweet monster comprises of different characters bearing different names(and flavours). PSSSS.... also heard that there would be 2 more new outlets in the near future soon! Hint: For those staying in the north or travels frequently, you guys are in luck! .

✌🏻Last chance to enjoy this great deal tomorrow (15 April)! ✨

Served chilled without ice, I was sold the moment I had my first sip 💖. The flavour and fragrance of the tea was distinct and lingering, without being too milky or sweet which was what I was expecting initially. Certainly not your usual teh ping with a robust earthy flavor that was prominent amidst the smooth milkiness, coupled with a pleasant lingering aroma. Any resemblance to Chun cui? Perhaps a fresher, stronger, preservative-free one with a much lower intensity of sweetness. Love how it was served in a ziplock bag - an upgraded version of the plastic bags in traditional coffeeshop, one that’s convenient and fuss-free for takeaway, with a greater rigidity and of course, aesthetics 😌. Though $4.90 for a milk tea might be a tad steep, it was certainly worth the try and in fact, it has officially became my favourite milk tea to date! ✨What’s more, without the usual 冰(ice) in your ‘Teh’, this allows for prolonged enjoyment without the dilution factor .
