Lavender/Jalan Besar Haunts

A small cafe that sells only baos, Fan Choy, lo mai kai and siew mai. Food is good, cute place for a quiet lunch 😊👍

At $10 for a small plate suitable for 1.5pax, it better be good. And thankfully, it was! It had a nice smoky char flavour, and the flavorful sauce made me overlook the fact that i generally prefer drier hkm. Worth a try!

Have always wanted to try this place! The buffet was a small spread of nasi lemak, prata coins and laksa, which isnt much but for 12 nett and a cozy environment it was well worth it. Plus everything was yummy, would return to try their main menu!

Although the presentation was gorgeous, the flavour was good, the meat was a bit on the tough side for ribs. Also had the yin yang durian, which was neither hot nor cold (?) Cafe itself was quite nice and staff were friendly, would return to try other dishes. Wish the set lunch could be brought back!

Although Im not a big fan of crustacean soups such as prawn soup or lobster bisque, this umami rich porridge was very well suited to my taste buds 👍 i think it was more similar to fish soup than lobster tbh. The lunch set was great value and variety, hard to get in a chinese restaurant when dining in small numbers, plus everything tasted great!

One of my favourite lunches around the area, cucina provides affordable lunches with great quality! The aglio olio with roasted chicken leg makes for a super satisfying lunch 👍👍

At 14.90, the poke bowl is on the pricier side, especially considering toppings like avocado and onsen egg are considered premium and require a topup. But the salmon was fresh and the bowl tasted great, yums! 😋

At 12.90 with a large selection of sides(garlic fried rice is pretty good!), this is pretty worth it! The steak was done just as requested, and well seasoned without needing any sauce. Cherry tomatoes were seasoned with something like.. orange peel? Interesting and I liked it :)

This sashimi platter looks to be worth at least 10 bucks on its own... but it comes with the unagi set for 22++! What a steal! You can tell just by looking at the color of the tuna that this is quality stuff. Unagi was good but nothing amazing like the likes of man man. Still, a good lunch!

So happy that they open for lunch now! The thin slices of well marbled wagyu were soft and flavourful, and they were pretty generous with the portion. The oozy egg on top was a nice touch too. The seasoned rice was a bit too sour imo, but quite tasty. For 18++ its really reasonably priced and worth a try!

There was no honey taste to be found. Very garlicky, kinda bitter. Cant say i'll try it again.

The generous, thick slices of char siew were super tender, while the seemingly sauceless noodles were springy and surprisingly flavourful(albeit a little too salty imo). Great find for lunch. Service staff were really friendly too!
