Meat
300g Australian flank steak with za’atar butter and garlic, so full of flavour, juicy and tender!
For someone who doesn’t go for lamb, this massive lamb kebab was actually more than acceptable for me - tender, juicy lamb sausage with a bit of smokiness and best part was that it isn’t gamey. Served with pistachio yoghurt.
Meats are also done delishly well here. My favourite of the lot might just be the iberico pork - look at that glorious sheen - tender with sticky, well-balanced sweetness from Coca Cola (YES) and some sherry vinegar. So darn good!
These Thai street food-inspired skewers were pretty good! Juicy, nicely marinated without being overly salty and a good proportion of fatty parts while the achar on the side helps to cut through the slight greasiness.
The lamb wasn’t too gamey with quite a strong mint flavour so while I’m still not a fan of lamb, this was pretty decent!
Slow-roasts Sunday with good music makes it an even better weekend! Roast angus beef ribeye ($32), sounds pricey but the portion was huuuuge and proved to be too much for me to handle. Very tender and flavourful, loved the Brussel sprouts stir-fried with bacon; came with Yorkshire pudding and fluffy mash that was just the right amount of buttery.
Newly opened space with baos by @baomakers in the day, transforming into a steak bar (think steak, gourmet burgers, bar bites and cocktails) by night!
Butler’s Steak (black angus flat iron), was very flavourful and certainly don’t need any dips, but I’ll make an exception for the balsamic mushrooms we had as a side (do order it if you’re here!!). This isn’t the most tender of cuts but thought it was generally quite manageable with a good bite, not tiringly so (except for a tad inconsistency in one of our plates). Available in limited quantity per day, and it’s relatively affordable at $25 (comes with a small salad). If you happen to be in a group or am famished, go for the Team Platter featuring signatures from both @butlerssteak and @baomakers - For $120, it’s good for 4-5 pax to share so you get a bit of variety with a butler’s steak, skirt steak, lobster roll, pork cheek bao (x2), 4 sides and 2 dips.
Thank you #burpple for extending the invite and Butler’s Steakbar for having us!
For someone who loves variety, the concept of @gastrosmiths with a sizable menu of small plates (generally priced at $10 and below) works for me.
The Grilled Spanish pork neck was no doubt my favourite from the eatup, smokey and incredibly tender! I loved the side of sweet roasted grape sauce. No sharing is required here - will definitely get a portion just for myself next time😌 portion is fine (130g) so there’s no fear that you won’t be able to get other items to try!
Thank you #burpple for the invite and @gastrosmiths for having us!
Essentially a deconstructed "burger-inspired" fried rice. Perfectly seared and tender Tajima Wagyu, American cheese, cheeseburger sauce - no idea what goes in it was only told that it's "special sauce", but very delectable. Served with kale, corn, pickles, onions, greens, sweet cherry tomatoes and topped with a sunny side up. Mix it all up and you get a very satisfying meal. They did say it was good for 2 to share but I think I could've finished it by myself (portion and tastiness-wise) if not for the fact that we also had to have the Lebanese fried chicken again.
Braised in red wine, the angus oyster blade was tender and flavoursome, with black truffle salsa, smooth parsnip purée and spiced risotto cake that was nicely crisped on the top. So far the beef dishes are decently priced and easy to love! But ok actually we haven't had anything bad here 😛
Thankfully we abided by Van's wishes of ordering a non-seafood item (and the only one on the menu) here.
The Braised Beef Shin was surprisingly well-executed! Flavourful, fork-tender beef, served with mash that could be smoother but it was so delish with the braised sauce. Served also with crisp barley bits and broccoli that helps to feel like I'm eating (slightly) clean 😂 Very comforting bowl with the flavours and textures complementing well.
Ongoing 1-for-1 promotions at Japan Food Town which changes every week. This week, the Wagyu Sirloin Steak from Hokkaido Izakaya caught my eyes. Happily ordered without checking on the portion served and when it came we thought there will be another plate but this was it. 200g (?) setting us back by $58++. Obviously wished there were more but at least it was delicious! Tender, juicy; though my partner thought there was a little too much sauce to taste the true flavour but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Loved the accompanying baby potatoes with its crunchy skin! Also surprised myself by eating it with the super crisp garlic which I usually dislike.
