Aptly named, Sweet Little Rain ($9.80) is served with a "floating" candy floss hovering over a cup of americano (aka local kopi-o-kosong). The candy streams down into the coffee as the hot steam melts the floss. The coffee has a strong acidic aftertaste, so while this did not work for me, it may appeal to some others.

Marketing fad? Probably. But the creative presentation does make it pretty appealing.

🍔
Beef patty, crescenza and gorgonzola cheese, bacon, caramelised onions and Thousand Island sauce. Curly fries available separately.

They say good things come in small packages, and in this case, the most sinful, most heart-attack-inducing bowl of fries goes to Curious Palette's Spam Fries ($11.90). The seemingly harmless thick-cut chunks of savoury luncheon meat may just amount to a "couple of sticks", but we swear we could feel our heartbeat starting to slow just halfway through the bowl. There's kaffir lime mayo for dipping, but the spam fries are pretty spectacular on their own. Wash it all down with a cup of good ol' Flat White ($4.90).

Taking over the former space of Blue Collar Collaborative is a joint partnership between One Man Coffee and Torched; Torched being in charge of the food menu here while coffee and beverages (as well as a small variety of pastries) are by One Man Coffee. The partnership between both names work similarly to One Man Coffee's other outlets with another tenant, such as One Man Coffee & Garçons at Upper Thomson and Crust & One Man Coffee at myVillage.

Tried a couple of their Poké, such as the Kimchi, Spicy and Shoyu variants of Salmon/Tuna as well as the Tamago Mentaiko — the Poké were generally mild in marination with flavours that are rather indistinguishable from one another; would definitely appreciate the Spicy ones to pack more of a kick especially. That being said, the fish were fresh, and each Bowl comes with rice, salad, edamame and cherry tomatoes; portions are on the smaller side as compared to other places that serve similar fare. Tamago Mentaiko was pretty good however; a good balance of a light hint of sweetness from the Tamago with umami flavours from the Mentaiko drizzled.

Such a price gives you a nice portion of crisp and soft potato that goes well with some sourcream dip and nicely cooked black pepper chicken sausages, along with a sunny side up with a runny yolk! While the dish tastes good, I personally feel that the amount of oil can be cut down; it is quite a turn off to see excess oil on your plate when you are finished with your food. Also, the minute portion of salad (?) is kind of depressing, not sure if intentional though.

That said, M Seven is a cafe that has much potential to excel within the local cafe scene, especially with a nice variety of dishes that have the capability of satisfying your tastebuds without costing your entire weekly allowance. Situated at PoMo, this one is definitely worth checking out if you're looking ti have a meal in town! 😊

Rice bowl and shibuya toast. And now, im rushing back home to complete work in 3hours so that I can head out again this evening. Why my weekends like that one.. #burpple #burpplesg

It comes with chocolate ice cream, cherries, chocolate sauce and toasted almonds, which briefly lifted up the taste of the fritters.

The decor is different from what you see in other cafes. A huge hand drawn psychedelic mural occupies the whole wall. You wont see the usual round tables and chairs. Think of the likes of big staircases, cushions for you to lean on. Small square tables.

As it is only a soft launch, the menu is limited to a few items... such as this beef burger with melted cheese and a homemade slaw. Comes with sweet potatoes. Good to know coffee beans are sourced from Tiong Hoe. It has a smokyness, nutty and chocolaty finish which I believe suits the palate of most coffee drinkers.

For the soft launch promo, order a main and a drink, you get 10% off. The cafe is located closer to Jalan Besar. Closest mrt is either Rochor and Jalan Besar mrt. Walking distance of about 5 mins.

Ordered Oyster Mee Sua and Lu Rou Fan (Braised Pork rice) for around $5 each. Generous with oysters but wished there was more pork. Pearls in the Bubble Milk Tea was too hard and not chewy. Recommend to try the fried squid!

Was intending to lunch at another stall nearby but the lack of comfortable seats and the pure sight of Lor Bak Rice on the banner outside of the eatery made us dine here instead. Paradise Gastronomy at The Bencoolen serves Taiwanese fare, including Oyster Mee Sua, simple bento sets as well as Taiwanese snacks such as the Sesame Crispy Chicken.

The version here may not be quite as mind-blowing as my favourites (which happens to be Scorch and Eat 3 Bowls), but the bowl here still proves to be satisfying for the folks who work around the area. While the braised meat wasn't quite as chunky as what I would have expected, it's still pretty tender considering they used diced pork belly that's slow-cooked. There's enough sauce and pork to go around the entire bowl, and the sauce was immensely flavourful and savoury; a good balance especially when had with the crunchy pickles at the side that gives an adequately sourness that cleanses the tastebuds. What was particularly interesting with this bowl was how they seemed to have included fried shallots with the braised pork to provide a crunch — something that makes it texturally different from other Lor Bak bowls out there.

PS: the lady that served us seemed to take a lot of pride in the food they have to offer and is pretty friendly given how she is making trips round the eatery to engage with the patrons — she gave us quite a few suggestions on how to have the Lor Bak Rice, including having it with their Chili and giving everything a good mix before digging in. The zingy chili that seem to somewhat resemble those that come with Oyster Mee Sua indeed gives the Lor Bak Rice a flavour burst; not too spicy, yet very uplifting!
