This tasted way better than I expected. Gravy was thick and flavorful, on the salty side. But paired with the bland Mee Tai Mak, it was perfect. Got 3 fresh big prawns inside. Deveined and deshelled. I was very impressed. I cleaned out the bowl. 👍🏻
This was really savory and carried a strong fermented beany taste. Veges were fresh.
This could be either spicy or non spicy. A big portion that was very value for money. Well seasoned and gravy was fantastic with rice. Bubbling hot and very savory. Yummy.
Egg Prata still as good but the curry gravy bowl had shrunk dramatically. I had to go back to ask for refill, which was done with no complaints. I guess this reduced wastage. Curry was very good. Flavorful and very spicy.
This was from Yusoff Haji Jalal stall. Minimum order of 10 sticks. The chicken was a bit tough but I think it was thigh meat. Very well marinated. I appreciate a good char in my meats but some sticks of chicken were black, which turned me off. Had to cut those parts out. Too few onion slices. But the sauce was one of the best I’ve tried. Thick and peanutty. It was not overly sweet and was spicier than others.
This was in my Laksa set too. Not sweet. Very nice.
The radish cake was part of the laksa set. Ala carte was ($1.20). Tasted better than I thot. The cake was soft inside and crispy outside. Not sure if they heated them up but they were warm. Chili sauce was nice. I was afraid the ngoh Hiang would be porky and heavily spiced but it wasn’t at all! Quite impressed.
I was really looking forward to this, but the cutlet looked nothing like the one I ate last month. The first bite confirmed it was different. I went to the counter to ask, and they said they have changed it. This one was dry and tasted like a patty more than fresh meat.
The Otah was $3 for any two. I got the Nonya one and the spicy Thai Otah. To be honest I couldn’t really differentiate the two. But both were delicious! Chicken wing was unbelievably crispy. But what I really love was the cutlet. At $2.50, it wasn’t cheap, but it was divine. Very crispy and the meat was juicy and tender. Unfortunately, they have changed it now. To a horrible dry thing that tasted like it was from the frozen section in a supermarket. I was appalled.
I wasn’t expecting much but this beef rendang could beat the ones from some restaurants. It was pretty spicy, and the gravy was so thick and flavorful. Not oily. The chili sauce was of cos the best. I could eat another bowl of rice just mixing in this fabulous chili.
I was blessed with a new batch of freshly fried pork chops, so it was hot and crispy. Sauce was a bit weird, but with the fantastic curry in abundance, who cares.
I chose cabbage fried with tang hoon, braised pork belly, sweet and sour pork, and pork chop. What a steal for a 3 meats dish! Cabbage was alright. Braised pork belly was superb. Fat meat ratio was perfect, along with the very Q and chewy skin. Nobody in my very long queue chose sweet and sour pork, but I decided to give it a chance. Good choice. Despite sitting there all lonesome in its sauce, it was still crispy. Sauce was good too.
