the wasabi is also good; doesn't taste like paste but somewhat freshly grated. however, it's very expensive at $18.90 for food sold in a campus and the onsen egg that looks perfect in the background is a lie.
Teppei's seasoning has always been a hit-or-miss. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of the saltiness it. They were generous with the sashimi though, and it was relatively fresh for the price you're paying. Had several bowls here already, and I can honestly say that the quality had been consistent. The Kaisen don at Teppei daidokoro is even more substantial, with a seemingly larger portion of sashimi for a slightly higher price.
Quiet place in evenings. Wouldnt have expected Japanese don if I have not researched. Quite nice Barachirashi & wagyu don! Rice was a bit too hard though but sauces are nice.
From Tokyo Joe at Savourworld โ this new Japanese outfit serves out Barachirashi and other Donburi dishes for lunch, while serving up Yakitori and drinks for dinner hours.
Overall the Gyudon is pretty decent, but does have some room for improvement. One particularly stark detail for me was the rice; it feels like it is missing of the stickiness and fluffiness of typical Japanese rice, though it's well-flavoured from the sauce from the stir-fried beef. Other aspects were pretty decent though; savoury slices of flavourful beef that isn't gamey โ comes with strips of caramalised onion and mushrooms that gives a juicy, sweet and earthy bite while the pickles does cut through all the savoury flavours. It is also noted that the beef seemed to be stir-fried with chili padi โ a strange but welcomed addition that gives it a punchy kick of spiciness that isn't particularly Japanese (but I like ๐). The drizzle of truffle oil seemed to only be concentrated in a certain area of the bowl, and not particularly on the beef but more on the rice โ the overall flavours of truffle not particularly strong throughout. The onsen egg is an optional add-on at $2 extra. Not a bad Gyudon to start with, but certainly one that could do with a bit of tweaking to refine the taste and textural aspects of the ends experience.
As a fan of chirashi bowl, I just had to try MOJO's. The big portion with fat chunks of sashimi totally provoked my taste bud. However, the taste gave me a disappointment. The rice wasn't like the Japanese rice, and the sesame seeds and the sweet sauce were too overpowering. Eating it did not give me the satisfaction I demanded from a chirashi bowl sadly ๐
fret not, there's @chirchirsg in Chinatown point that opens till 3am daily. Perfect if you're out and about Chinatown doing last minute CNY shopping

Don't mind me as I put a wet blanket over their famous Nest Snowย ($32.90) which had infested my instagram feed for months with images of golden brown chicken tenders sitting over a bed of cream sauce. Like a moth to a flame, I was drawn to the arresting visuals of golden brown topped with fresh whipped cream and shavings of Parmesan, mozzarella and cheddar; however, it all fell to pot when I realise that these spicy Cajun chicken tenders were incredibly unpalatable. It's mucked up dry innards, insubordinate with the hot plate of cheesy cream sauce below. A pool that resembled something similar to canned cream of chicken soup, unstirred. Yikes

More after the jump; to my blog of course. Fry-day just got real

Boneless chicken chunks, crisp outside, tender and juicy inside. Tossed with rice cakes and potato wedges in sugar and honey.
Flavours of strong sweet and mild savoury, rather like a cross between a dessert and an appetizer. Actually not bad.
